July My Frenemy

Sorry I've been less active online this month than I would have liked but yeah July has been absolutely wild!

The Good

Tons of family birthdays this month (my calendar has been packed!)

Amazing news: I got accepted into 3 universities for my master's degree! Still waiting to hear back from my top choice, but I'm thrilled to have options to consider.

The Not-So-Good

We've had loooots of rain where I live and our basement got completely flooded. Of course, guess whose belongings got destroyed? Mine 💀

Itch.io drama: On July 24th, itch.io suddenly shadowbanned all NSFW content after payment processors (I think Visa/Mastercard) pressured them following complaints from an Australian anti-porn group called "Collective Shout" (those fucking hypocrites can take their moral panic and shove it🚮) The new guidelines are ridiculously broad!! They ban "non-consensual content" which could technically include any game with combat, murder, or characters in situations beyond their control. Even award-winning artistic games about serious topics got delisted. Which makes me really furious!! I'm worried my game might get flagged since it will have optional adult content in Chapter 1 plus it will have lot's of gore elements in general. I haven't spent almost a year learning Twine coding for this to happen. But there's no way I'm giving up!! Definitely looking into other options right now but I'm a little lost on what to do.
