Let's see what truths we discover, shall we?

Chapters 1-10: So! After reading just the first 10 chapters, I'm already finding this more interesting and engaging than King of Pride. I do say that, in terms of the book timeline, this is set after/during King of Wrath, so technically, I should've read this book before King of Pride, but oh well! So we have Stella Alonso, who is like a social media influencer who's trying to get enough money to pay rent for a senior home for someone who pretty much looked after her when her parents didn't as well as trying to pay rent for her apartment. So far, I really love Stella. She's so interesting and such a puzzle, and at times, she feels real, like I'm not just reading a character on a page but reading about an actual person. One thing I noticed from a quote in chapter 9 is that I fully believe Stella is demiromantic, a sexuality that falls under the ace umberto. Basically, it means that you can't form romantic feelings for someone unless there's an emotional connection. The same goes for demisexual which basically means that you can't have sexual feelings or have sex with someone unless there's an emotional connection. For reference, this is the quote Stella says:

Now, about Christian Harper, it's safe to say, I am loving him which is no surprise, lol. My only downside for him is that in some chapters, he is in the right place, and the right time of where Stella is at the time is a little... Concerning to say the least, especially considering he has a file... About Stella... It's giving stalker a little bit, and I'm not sure how I feel about that part of him yet. Turns out the infamous painting that keeps getting referenced from Twisted Hate, and King of Wrath has a deep connection to Christian. Oh! I do have a theory because Christian has this small turquoise ring that he keeps talking about, and I feel like it holds a deeper meaning...

Chapters 11-20: Okay, so these chapters were a rollercoaster of vulnerability moments and rich tension between Christian and Stella. I'll start by saying that chapter 19 is a spicy solo moment with Stella after she gives Christian a massage, lol. Speaking about Stella, I want to protect this little ray of sunshine as much as we learn more about her past experiences with being stalked, and of course, there's the depiction of her anxiety and panic attacks that I find myself understanding a little bit with her and I love her growing feelings towards Christian of course lol. Now, speaking of the guy, I love him. He's shown that while he does have a darker side, he can have a lot of moments where he does show a few green flags and moments of being protective without being controlling, at least, not too much. Even he isn't immune to his growing feelings towards Stella. I am trying to remind myself that a break-up is eventually coming in the book, but right now, I am trying to focus more on the present moments I read rather than worry about what's eventually coming in the book.

Chapters 21-30: I'll try my best to remember as many details as I can about these chapters since I've been reading them in different chunks. But for starters, just like how Stella had a private solo moment for herself in chapter 19, Christian has one of his own in chapter 23. Now that the spice warning is out of the way, let's talk about the main events that happen in this block, such as the dinner scene with Dante and Vivian, Christian meeting Stella's family, Stella telling her friends about her attraction towards Christian as well as Christian being a workaholic and also at war with his own feelings.

I still aim to finish this book by May 1st, no matter what. It's just that I'm a night reader, so sometimes I like to take breaks during a block. What I do want to say is that now that I'm approaching the spice part of the book, I'm starting to feel myself getting prepared and getting nervous about the third-act break-up moment between Christian and Stella because for starters I have so many theories and part of me is nervous that I'm correct about my theories and the impact it'll have between them.

Chapters 31-40: HOLY FUCK THESE CHAPTERS WERE HOT BUT GAWD DAMN IT WAS LIKE A SEX MARATHON BETWEEN THESE TWO! The chapters that include sex between Stella and Christian are 31, 32, 36 and 39 (HOT AS FUCK BOAT SCENE, VERY 365 DAYS VIBES), you have been warned! But with that out of the way, things in these chapters were getting too good to be true with them becoming a real couple and with Stella confessing to him. Unfortunately, Stella was cleaning around the penthouse and found that Christian had been keeping a file about her in a secret drawer. This was the moment for the break-up part of the book to happen, or at least the lead-up to it, and I just... Just like what I said in my King of Pride review, I am a little tired of this trope being down, and no, I won't be repeating myself about this in every Ana Huang book. Still, I have made my thoughts clear in the review linked to my KoP (King of Pride) review if you like to read more about my thoughts on the use of the third-act break-up trope in Ana Huang's books.

Chapters 41-50: Okay, so... This break-up part of the book, at least in terms of how they get back together, is done differently but we get some fucked up slightly yandere vibes when Stella gets kidnapped by her stalker. But seeing Christian go through what he went through after the break-up was just... Heartbreaking because you could tell he really loves her, and he's doing what she asked him which was to leave her alone and he did... But also, he turned to drinking as a coping mechanism as well as throwing himself deeper into work... On the other side, Stella seemed to have been doing better at coping without Christian, she reconnected with her family, she's been doing steady with her work, obviously, she was still missing Christian but it didn't show as strongly as it did with Christian missing Stella. Part of me is glad that the kidnapping scene didn't drag on and was quickly resolved, we got a glimpse of badass Stella in that scene and fuck yes, Christian and Stella are on the road to getting back together, we love to see it.

Chapters 51 - Epilogue: I hate my soft heart for happy endings... So first of all, there's a final spice chapter, which is chapter 53. But oh my god... The ending... The final chapters and the epilogue OH THE EPILOGUE! Alex and Ava are married and have twins (ALEX CALLING THEIR DAUGHTER LITTLE SUNSHINE! 😭), Rhys and Bridget have a daughter! Jules and Josh are engaged! In the end, Christian and Stella are about to have a family! And yes... Just like Twisted Games, I did cry, not sobbing crying as I did in TG, but I shed some tears... What an ending to a series, honestly...

Final thoughts:

This book was a rollercoaster ride, honestly... I'm giving this book 4.6/5 stars, mostly for the third-act break-up part of the book, but also of the slow burn, which honestly was perfectly paced. Even the third-act break-up part was perfectly paced. Originally, I was going to give it a 4-star rating, but I felt that it wasn't right to give this book that rating, so at the end of the day, I'm giving it 4.6 stars.

This was a perfect way to wrap up a series, the perfect book even to be the last in the series. I was so happy when some of my theories came true about Christian and Stella! Their whole relationship was both hot and vulnerable, and I loved that, the way Stella was slowly changing Christian's views about love and relationships and Christian helping Stella become stronger and more confident against her thoughts and to take control of her own life. Overall, I really did love this book, and now that I've finished this series, I can focus on reading the rest of the Kings of Sin series and very possibly her sports romance series. I found the green butterfly dividers from @diviniyae. They were the perfect match for this book since Christian calls Stella "Butterfly."

I can't believe I've already read 16 books this year. At this rate, I'll beat my reading target by July or August, lol. But thank you for reading my review of Twisted Lies by Ana Huang. As for my next read, we're going back to Harry Potter with the second book, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. Can't wait for you all to see that review, bye-bye!

Just an opinion, but Ana Huang is a writer for those who did not have a Wattpad phase. Now, don't get me wrong. Her writing style is fairly respectable. The themes of the books are non-toxic (atleast most of the time), and she has some catchy series names.

But why is the plot of her books equivalent to fast fashion? Ykwim?

Every character in her book is written in a way, as if they were pre-established in prequels that never existed. For example, we are supposed to assume Christian Harper is mysterious and affectionate even though there's nothing he's done in the book to suggest the same.

The typical wanna be cold, ceo, mafia, alpha, mysterious, rich guy creation with a male protagonist along with an attempted complex quirky female protagonist.

And the romance sets off in less than a couple of chapters. It pre-exists from the third or fourth and escalates quickly during the middle.

I assumed it was the Twisted Series that had this formula, so I decided to give her another shot and picked up the King of Warth. First chapter in, it's a yapping full of how secretive and handsome and awesome the male lead is.

The stories are way too predictable and obvious - hence, boring.
