Sniffing around was getting Toothless nowhere. Everything here was a lot more foreign than the place he’d apparently just left. Hunkered down with his nose to the floor, the Night Fury wasn’t really paying much attention to where he was going. He had to locate something familiar, if only the slightest bit so. He had a feeling that he’d not find Hiccup here either so why not try for someone he’s met before? No one had attacked him then and he hasn’t been attacked yet. There was no harm in taking a look around while things were still calm and he didn’t have to fear for his life or run away.
For a moment, he thought he smelled a bird. One he had played with, not the rude one that stole a chip from him. Speeding up, dulled claws clicked on hard pavement as he moved with haste and further dove into tunnel vision. Got to find this thing and make sure it’s real. That’s what he wanted. A real creature, a person, something he could at least sit with for a little while before resuming his original goal.
When the scent grew stronger the Night Fury broke out into a gallop. This, in turn, had his wings flapping every which where they could without generating enough lift. Nose snorting loudly, little grunts of excitement escaping his throat, Toothless didn’t realize he was charging right into Simon Blackquill. If he didn’t hear the dragon coming and move out of the way in time, they were both in for quite the tumble.
Either way, Toothless was happy! Here’s someone that had talked to him for a little while. That was good in his book of scribbles.
