oh! yes i realize now this wasn't explained very well anywhere: they don't just come close to getting killed, they DO get killed, every mission. it's how they get back to the office. the methodology and efficiency (or lack thereof) is often a major cause of workplace tension

Do you think Daniel Jackson is legally dead? Like, before the whole ascended thing, I'm talking back in the 90s. Man got hired onto a project he absolutely could not tell anyone about, and then disappeared without a trace for three years (between the movie and the show), then resumed working for a Top Secret organization he could not tell anyone about. Like. What are the odds that SGC decided to hold off on filing paperwork because incredibly dangerous interstellar mission, and then, he just kept going on incredibly dangerous interstellar missions, and no one wanted to admit he'd passed the "seven years missing = presumed dead" mark--which would then mean when he DID ascend, there's at least one clerk going "called it" and breathing a sigh of relief, only for them to scream when he comes back

This is where I admit I have only ever watched the 1994 movie and never seen any of the shows haha 😅

I've heard from a bunch of people who went in blind that they had no trouble following. And I really do feel like it should just work out of the box! It's an AU that diverges extremely heavily from canon 4 years before the start of canon, so it's not like you're missing canon events. There isn't really any lore you need to know. The canon material is happily loose on the lore so so am I!

Like. Here's what you need to know: psychics exist.

Why? How? How many? What are their powers? Doesn't matter! It's absolutely just a normal world but a small handful of psychics exist.

Also, ghosts exist.

I was trying to get into Wolf359 based on your praise, but I'm not really digging Eiffel's reckless loan wolf funnyman style. Is there a point at which things become a little less all about him? Would you recommend against skipping forward any amount?

personally i rly like eiffel as a main character, but i can understand how his narration could get a little grating. things get less focused on him and his antics like, 12-13 episodes in. which is also when shit gets buckwild

I am starting to regret the “soft dirk” appellation. It was mostly a jokey way to refer to canon Dirk. That is what “soft dirk” is. Because he is literally softer than the predominant meanspirited arrogant coolkid weeb that is entirely fanon imo.

But yeah, I read that. It was VERY good for Dirk and Roxy and Jane. I kinda felt Jake was an afterthought, tho? So I didn’t keep up with it. But it’s very very good.

I started reading 911 fic specifically because I like time loops and there are *so many* time loop fics about Buck

I found out my friend was in a 911 fan discord server (about the "weewoo show" as she put it) and asked if there was some reason for all these Buck time loop fics

and she turned it around and asked, "Well don't *you* want to see him suffer? A timeloop means infinite potential suffering!"

XD So apparently everyone is equally very normal about Evan Buckley this is fine

that's why I asked friend who *does* watch the show for explanation XD Because it's unusual to see so many timeloop fics in a no magic setting
