Ok so this? This is a sketchy re-design of a more than two decade old character, and has quite some history and baggage related to my current fandom presence. Let me tell you~
Once upon 1998ish, I was but a young teenager. I loved reading, and to my great delight more and more fantasy books were being translated into my native language. Living in a rural area, the tiny library didn’t have a great selection, but there were a couple shelves to plow through. They also, unfortunately, had an artbook by Frank Frazetta. The dude paint masterly, but the obsession by how women in fantasy should look maybe wasn’t the greatest inspiration for a youngster of the time. It also taught you very little about appropriate clothing. The game magazine me and my brother had bought to look at the upcoming übercool Ocarina of Time had me hooked on the style of the concept art way ahead of us actually saving up to afford the game.
So. There I was. Bookish and nerdy and deciding my own fantasy worlds would be awesome. Looking back decades later, I feel that fond cringe you do when remembering how cool you thought you were, but finally is far enough from it you can recognise you were a kid who had fun.
(old art and long story under cut)
So. One of the characters I created? Twitchi. No, the name didn’t mean anything. I didn’t know enough English to recognise the word twitch (in fact, I needed extra class to even get somewhere with the English, took a long time for it to click) and the streaming service wasn’t a thing for a good while. It was just two sounds that sounded fun together. She wasn’t even the main character of any of the stories in the universe, she was just. One among many, a support character of a support character.
One of my earliest attempts bear clear signs of Ocarina of Time concept art, and the fact anime was reaching my part of the planet. Oh, and bosoms to match Frazetta and the Marvel Comics of the time.
She was. Colourful. The clothing choices? Oh dear oh dear. I mean look here WHO think this garment choice is even a little bit okay for a rider? And I had quite a small library of poses I returned to.
Enough later that the comic art influence can easily be seen. And then, by year 2000 she apparently had a name change, to a much cooler name and not just some stupid noises my a couple years younger me had come up with. Grown up me read the new name backwards and want to tell that older teen me this was not in any way as revolutionary as I thought it was just because there was an x in it x’D (it should be a recognisable word even without the English spelling x3)
The project was put to the side, revisited very few times for years, and by 2006 it had been put aside as based on a way too cringey old project. The reason that year matter? Because that was when I discovered fandom, shipping, and all sorts of places and people online and y!gallery and FA. Spaces online I wanted to keep to myself, that obviously needed a new unconnected username. For some godforsaken reason I went with twitchi, with this old character in memory. Sometimes twitchi was taken, so I began put dah in front, as the online lingo at the time tended to sometimes use it instead of the, and dahtwitchi sounded and looked better to my native language brain than thetwitchi.
Here I am today, well over a decade later, still having the same username in fandom. Still finding it a bit silly. But, it was about time the OC got herself a style update. Some clothing she can sensibly ride a horse in. A bit more... subdued. (Oh, and your hobbit here have decided it’s about time to finally work on arting women, it been neglected for A Long Time x’p)
I hope some of you who are interested in the art development will also get something out of this, how your art change over time, the fact that you change style, get inspired by outside sources on how and what you art, and, as long as you art, you’ll be going somewhere with the art. You might never know how your art looks in a decade, but many things will have happened and many things will have been learned.
I hope you got something out of that if you dragged yourself all the way through. Do you have any longwinded stories behind your username?

Iruka has adjusted to a lot since the day Tobirama tumbled into his life. He was not prepared for the Shodai Hokage's sudden appearance in his apartment.
