so I gave some poetry a try, in the spirit of escapril. I won't be doing every day, but still felt like sharing this one.

another poem from me, finally!! this is sort of for @two-bees-poetry and their escapril series, more specifically it's a combination of today/tomorrow's prompt (i'm australian, it's the ninth in my timezone!) 'rate from 1-10,'—because i used the same structure as their 'kassandra rates her discomfort on a scale from 1-10'—and also day 16's 'katabasis', because orpheus.

i think a lot about orpheus and eurydice, and this is far from encompassing all my thoughts on the matter. it's fun though!

what do you do when you're taught that god would hate even the littlest part of you?

I thought I would give escapril a shot this year, using two-bees-poetry's prompt list. I will NOT be able to put something out every day, but I'm looking forward to having an excuse to get back into practice with poetry!

Daily observations (where I'll identify strengths, weak points, and goals):

It's pretty scattered and weirdly paced since I was focusing on the meter and rhyme scheme, to be expected of a first try. I can't tell whether I did the volta decently, but I like my bird metaphors. Throughout this week, I hope to improve my focus on specific ideas and form stories more cogently.

I'll explore Petrarchan sonnets like these for the next few days and move on to Shakespearean sonnets.

I'm trying to keep the escapism theme in my poems this month.
