Chanel is the only top 25 brand that doesn’t follow anyone
Vine (the #1 brand) is also the youngest 'brand', joining Twitter on 21st May 2012
CocaCola - for years the largest brand in the world (according to Interbrand) is only the 32nd largest brand on Twitter with 2.2m followers. Pepsi is 27th!
The world’s largest brand Apple doesn’t even have an active Twitter account. They have iTunesMusic, but with 0% replies and 93.3% links and RT’s ~ you could argue they are the most anti-social and un-original brand in the 25 top.
Most of the top Twitter accounts globally (not surprisingly) are celebrities, topped by KatyPerry. SocialBakers have the full list here.
Twitter was omitted from the results with it’s 28,465,025 followers (from 500.25m users). View my stats from the top 25 here.
I also left off the social platforms from this list and chose to concentrate on ‘brands’. You could argue with the inclusion of Vine (owned by Twitter) being an illegitimate entry, but that all makes for a good debate in the pub. These notable exceptions included:
Facebook - 13,397,411 followers
YouTube - 38,631,948 followers
Google - 7,918,988 followers
