i’ve never been sure what tyer’s “conclusion” should be bc i would like him to heal and grow and let go etc etc but while i can imagine him eventually finding peace im not super certain he’d ever be genuinely happy again post-revenge quest
so i started to think maybe he just needed to follow ilmat but that just feels too bleak, it’s the last thing ilmat would want, and it would leave yulani so unimaginably alone and heartbroken
the thing that fucks me up about settings with actual afterlife planes is that i have to contend with the possibility of former lovers meeting AFTER death, which in my PERSONAL opinion kind of complicates moving on to another partner
like maybe i’m overthinking it but tyer and ilmat were soulmates. ilmat will absolutely wait for tyer to eventually join him, and part of tyer will always be waiting to be able to do just that. so what the hell happens if tyer also falls in love with someone else during his life
idrk that he would or even could but what if?? like he dies first and then his second husband dies sometime after, expecting tyer to be waiting for him, but then he gets to the whatever plane and tyer is like fully afterliving it up with ilmat??? what????
ive been thinking lately that i want tyermat to have gone thru a bit of an enemies/rivals/unfriendly acquaintances to lovers arc before they ended up in the state they did. i can totally imagine them butting heads for a while after they first met
then the gag is that ilmat getting killed in front of tyer was actually just his final way of fucking with him by forever changing the trajectory of his life
my ocs’ thoughts on the phrase “making love” (i have so very little to do today):
dick - finds it way too cheesy to ever say seriously but is helplessly endeared to the fact that arren uses it 100% unironically
arren - uses it 100% unironically and means it with his whole heart
melea - finds it cringey, but begrudgingly supposes there are worse ways she could overhear arren referring to sex with her brother
suying - finds it corny, except when a girl she’s about to hook up with says it to her. the moment she’s no longer horny she regrets letting it fly
tyer - says it very seriously and finds it incredibly sexy when ilmat asks him to make love to him
ilmat - he feels very romanced when tyer says he wants to make love to him, but he finds it a little silly when he says it himself (but he says it anyway bc he knows tyer likes it)
yulani - she doesn’t really know why but it’s euphemistic in a way that she doesn’t like. it feels slimy to her
mars - finds it dumb and cringey. he does have enough tact not to mention it if a partner says it, but just barely (unless they’ve clearly got the wrong idea)
cal - does not have a particular opinion on it but is perfectly willing to say it when wooing those of her girlfriends who particularly like being classically romanced
luki - finds it cute when used sincerely, but probably wouldn’t use it himself (except to piss riannon off)
riannon - found it corny until her gf asked her to make love to her once and she immediately saw the light. when luki describes sex with spaghetti as “making love” it makes her feel so incredibly violent
spaghetti - has so little opinion it’s basically not a real phrase to him
anise - finds it kind of embarrassing. it’s sweet when their partner says it, but they have trouble saying it themself
andrew - doesn’t see anything wrong with it. not much more or less sexy than any other way of referring to sex (within reason. like boinking/porking are out)
hilo - another 100% unironic user, but perhaps with slightly less pure intentions than arren
buttrat - he finds it kind of goofy, but not enough to joke about or anything. only has as much of an opinion on it as any other teen
the completely nonsensical and impossible modern day high school au of all my ocs that exists solely in my brain has been cracking me up
getti is just impossible. constantly playing hooky but somehow at the top of his classes, very clearly a misfit but popular bc of his scary reputation, a bully to bullies but not at all nice to those bullies’ victims, legitimately dangerous in PE, invited to every party but might start a fire if he comes, weirdly admired by theater and art kids, either loved or hated by teachers with no in-between, and seemingly dating that hot musical prodigy on the fencing team but openly sleeps around. he simply cannot be translated gracefully to this au.
obviously the hot musical prodigy on the fencing team is luki, who is very popular among like. non-normies. the kind of guy who invites anyone who looks out of place to come eat with him and his friends. an obvious jock, but sharp as a knife and can basically master any instrument in 20 minutes. also has kind of a scary reputation, but is widely beloved. another bully of bullies, but unlike spaghetti, is kind to victims. why he’s (again, seemingly?) dating getti at all is an absolute mystery.
i accidentally gave myself (relatively mild) brainworms over the high school au. i think dick goes to a public school but melea goes to like a really prestigious private school where the other students all try to suck up to her. but one person fucks up and makes fun of dick, thinking she probably dislikes her embarrassingly incompetent older brother, and instead of laughing along she grabs them by the hair and slams their face against a wall and warns them to keep her brother’s name out of their filthy mouth.
so the public school has totally normal teen drama happening while this private school has comically intense anime high school type shit going on. don’t worry melea your brother is doing alright! besides his home situation (doesn’t live with his family) he is actually having a perfectly normal high school experience
arren is the king of home ec/agriculture and suying is the queen of shop class (ik theyre like nonexistent in high schools these days but w/e), titles that did not exist before the two of them bc why would they, but now everyone agrees on it, to arren and suying’s bewilderment
oh my fucking god tyer and ilmat as like. the school’s angels (star athletes, spend their weekends doing volunteer work and tutoring, all-around great guys) but ilmat has to transfer schools or something and tyer, heartbroken, swings HARD into an incredible emo phase LOL
ok idk how that would actually work bc i do not believe tyer and ilmat would break up just bc one of them transferred schools but i also don’t want to be like. he got into an accident and died or smth bc this au is supposed to be silly
anise gets excellent grades on anything that’s not creative. their music, art, and language (like lit analysis) grades are super average. they do bio dissections with the grave focus of a doctor in the OR but everyone noticed they seemed very unhappy about doing the snake and rat
they’re well known as one of luki’s close friends so they don’t have to worry about getting picked on. also in this au they’re like a combo of all the versions of anise so they can be an eccentric book-loving sleepyhead from a wealthy family of all adopted children again lol
they’re supposedly dating someone from another school, which just sounds totally fake, but anise is so unlikely to lie about that sort of thing that nobody’s sure whether or not to believe it. their close friends are all too mischievous and/or protective of anise’s privacy to say
dick isn’t really well-known for or super good at anything, but that’s exactly what he wants. he just wants to be a straight down the middle average high school student. he doesn’t hook up with guys he’s especially familiar with to avoid drama and he doesn’t talk about his family
suying and arren are his closest friends (he’s had a crush on arren forever but he’ll never say, and arren is beyond oblivious) but he also gets along really well with riannon (they’re the resident shit-talkers), as well as luki and anise. i think he and riannon became friends after both running into someone who was really fucked up at a party and both begrudgingly but immediately working together to make sure they were alright and got home safe. after that riannon was like “this party’s been kinda ass. i think im gonna text luki and ask if he wants to ditch and go grab a burger, wanna come with?” and dick was like that sounds great tbh and theyve been good friends ever since.
luki makes dick a little nervous bc for all intents and purposes he is a great guy but his boyfriend (?) is so weird and scary.
dick and anise enjoy each other’s company when the others are too rowdy. for a while dick wasn’t sure if they liked him or just kinda tolerated him bc he was friends with riannon/luki, but one day he admitted that to riannon and she was like “oh lol they totally like you, they said they’re happy whenever you hang out with us because they like listening to you speak.” so dick was like oh cool and now sometimes the two of them will chill out together. they’ve also bonded over being children of fucked up old money families.
oh fuck this au is perfect for suying having a huge embarrassingly obvious crush on yulani that yulani is somehow 100% unaware of. arren and dick are sympathetic but also find it hilarious (dick doesn’t tease her as much bc he suspects suying knows he has a crush on arren)
suying: hey would you maybe be down to watch a movie on sunday?
yulani: sorry, i have church
suying: oh no problem, im free the whole day
yulani: (100% honest) im so sorry, i volunteer at a soup kitchen right after
suying: (in her head) oh she HATES me (out loud) gotcha haha
she describes this to arren/dick later and they’re like……that is so rough. meanwhile reality yulani is thinking “aw, it was so sweet of her to invite me to see a movie with her and her friends, i feel bad turning her down” < at no point did suying say it would be with friends
