This little bugger gave me a lot of trouble to get his face right but I think it turned out pretty well overall! :33

Tygren appears so one dimensional and villainous in Songs of War because we see him only from Senn and Thalleous' perspectives. Like yeah of course Tygren is a person who does many many terrible things. But i feel like he's also more complex than people give him credit for.

Imo, his enjoyment of being the villain and his sadism come from one particular place - his desire to have some control over his own life. A 'if they're only going to see me as such, there's no point in trying to be anything else' situation. He enjoys putting others through pain because of the pain he himself suffers. He enjoys being the villain because after all, why not? He is fully aware the role would be forced on him either way, so why NOT have some fun with it? At least if he does, it keeps them from having such control over his narrative. He'd rather be remembered as the Voltaris fighter known for his cruelty, than just another Voltaris who lived and died and well that's just how it is. He wants those in charge of the narrative to remember him as the Voltaris who woke up every day of his life and CHOSE violence. CHOSE to hate. Not because he had no other options, but purely because he wanted to. He wasn't corrupted by an outside force, he didn't snap, he didn't get himself backed into a corner, he wants the clans to live knowing he is the embodiment of everything the Voltaris COULD be, if they really were as legend made them out to be.

Even though he desecrates the corpses of his fallen comrades, and sends them ahead of him ultimately to their deaths, he is still TRUSTED by them. They obey him. Perhaps out of fear, yes, but fear alone is not a sustainable way to rule. There is something else going on with Tygren Voltaris. But heaven forbid you get close enough to figure out what it is.

Anyway I do have loads of hcs abt him and you WILL be seeing them in iwg but I tried to keep this as canon supported as possible without adding too much

BUGDONI

Exactly what it sounds like. Ardoni but... bug.

Inspiration taken from @flowersgoldandgraphite's art style

So ye Ingressus is a moth bc moths are attracted to light (prime songs) and fire (flaming sword) (yay foreshadowing)

Thalleous is a praying mantis because they kill and eat other bugs (I mean many kinds of bugs do, but mantises are known for it and they're also really cool)

Achillean is a dragonfly because they spend most of their lives in or near bodies of water, and are often applauded for killing other 'evil' bugs (mosquitos)

Tygren is a Texas red centipede bc it just made too much sense for his character. Fun fact his markings in the design shown are all actually legs, but if he were to spread them out you would be able to see the markings underneath each one and it'd look very cool trust

Tygren is my favorite of the bunch I think
