Like their boss comes in and goes, “hey you have three weddings tomorrow.”

“i wrote you a letter, asked your best friend to send it, but took to the sea before you could have read it” - quentin giving margo a letter for eliot before he goes to the seam, only to die there 

“i swear im a good man” - quentin thinking he has to give up on being the loving person he is, and being terrified of losing that part of himself OR alternatively, quentin telling penny40 he’s a good man while in secrets taken to the grave

“so why don’t you love me back?” - quentin addressing eliot after he rejects him

“instead of twisting your words, you just sat there in silence” - referring to eliot after he rejects quentin

“but my hands shake and shudder at the mention, of half hearted reasons why we'll only be friends” - quentin struggling with his feelings, eliot telling him to ‘go be life partners with someone else’, the depression key telling him eliot will never love him again

the ENTIRE last bit of the song repeating “so why dont you love me back” is just quentin screaming at the monster or eliot in his dreams, furious and heartbroken and so confused as to why eliot doesn’t love him back

anyways i hope you enjoyed this because my heart hurts and i will never be able to unhear this
