Off My Meds
Hey everyone, I decided about a month ago that I wanted to try managing my disorder without medication, and let me tell you... it has been a disaster.
I have been dealing with uncontrollable mood swings and nonexistent motivation to do basic things like bathing and eating, but I think it is slowly getting better. For those of you who don’t know, I have type 2 bipolar disorder and have been medicated since my early teens, but I have just never really felt like myself while on medication. It has been unbelievably hard trying to travel and help manage and produce a youtube vlog while coming off my meds, especially so suddenly, but I feel more awake and aware of my surroundings than I have in years.
Please keep in mind, I am working with my psychiatrist through email on this process, and I really do not recommend making any changes to medication without guidance from a medical professional. It can be dangerous to mess with your meds, leave it to the pros.
The hardest part of all of this is definitely feeling like a burden to my travel companions and co-vloggers, but I am so lucky to have incredibly understanding, supportive people in my life. I feel like a storm, constantly on the edge of becoming a hurricane, but I just hope there’s a rainbow or something waiting on the other end. Sorry for the corny conclusion (not sorry).
