I guess it shows that I'm empathetic that, when the author of the audio book I'm listening to said some comparing ourselves to others is sometimes okay- for example, we got way more done today than corpses and are doing way better at life than moles (the animal)- my first instinct was to defend the moles, saying they're doing great at their role, at what brings them joy in life, and if only I should be as lucky.
And I can hear certain voices of people I love and who love me in my head saying that maybe I'm a little too empathetic in this case, but I no longer own that.
My empathy is a strength, and I've spent my whole life thinking Im "too much" and trying to rein myself in for others. I want to see what happens if I'm gradually and baby steps towards being authentically me in the traits I like, not just the struggles I can't hide and have no choice but to have in front of people.
