Beneath the murky depths within the international waters surrounding Africa, a lone, abandoned Umbrella facility had sat untouched for years. It had been discovered only recently, but few were comfortable with diving into its unexplored corridors without plenty of preparation.
Among the crew assigned to investigate it, was Temperance. Her skills with hacking would no doubt come in handy with such a vast array of information left to drown in darkness. She had become use to being sent on weird assignments like this, and part of her really hoped it would be an in and out sort. She hated the idea of being trapped, barely safe from the crushing pressure of the deep ocean waters.
"So. We go, we explore, we come back, aaaand I expect payment to be hot and ready to eat when I get back up here." Tempy jokes with a light smile to conceal the nervousness felt deep within her gut. "Alright. Here goes!" With a heavy clunk, the lid to the small underwater vessel would be sealed shut. Within it, she had two others. A female soldier from the BSAA, and a man from another division.
Not much was said outside of what needed to be. Everyone was serious, which gave Tempy no relief from the discomfort already assaulting her. She kept one memory.. One special thing.. The last thing she saw before they drifted beneath the waves - Sunrise. A new day. Another part of her life. She hoped to see another one of those back home in San Francisco.
When the small vessels docked into place, and the hiss and pop outside of the main door came, the BSAA woman stood to release the hatch with her gun raised and ready. At the all clear, Tempy followed as well, and quickly the teams settled in to explore.
One thing was for certain. Nobody knew how stable the place still was, or what might be alive within it still. Temperance was on high alert having experienced B.O.W. encounters more than a few times, and lost friends and colleagues to them. She broke away from the other teams briefly to check a control panel off to the side of a large door. Popping a card into the slot, she began tapping away furiously at a small, hand held device that looked akin to an iphone, but far, far more complex. With each key stroke, the door began to hiss as if releasing some kind of pressure. A chime touched the air before the doors would begin to open - four pieces intercepting at the middle which appeared to be a circular shape, disappearing over time.
The lights flicker swiftly, forcing Tempy to pause and look around. A sudden onslaught of screams fill the air, radiating from her com unit.
"It's here! OH GOD! ITS ONE OF THE--" The sound that follows leaves her sickened, and paled, feeling the fear sink in at the quivered breaths.
The facility shivered and groaned as pieces of it began to move and shift, tearing at coral that had built up around it. Rushing through the corridors, she came upon the BSAA woman and the man she had come with, torn asunder by ravenous monsters lurking in the darkness. She rushed for the vessels they had come in on, and watched in horror as chunks of the station fell, snapping them away from their seals only to let water begin to rush in.
She had no choice but to flee. As she passed through a threshold, she slapped the emergency door controls repeatedly to close and seal the room.. For now, this is all she had. It was better than drowned and dead, wasn't it? But she had no idea... who.. or what she had just sealed herself in with.
"Firefly to Mamma Bear.. Come in." she called over her com, "Firefly to Mamma Bear. Do you read me?" The static gave her no sense of relief as she pinched the bridge of her nose with frustration.
There was only one way out.. and there was no way she could make it there by herself.
