luckynumber3 ☑️: Happy birthday, big bro! 😄
@bionae : “ i want you to know i’ll always be here for you. whatever you need. ” ( for elyyy 💕 ) / accepting.
“I know,” she murmurs, and she does. He’s helping to reattach her arm, and she’d never realized how nice it would be to have someone to help — aside from her brothers ( when did she last see them? / does she even miss them? ) no one else knows, so this kind of rebuilding is always a lonely process. But he’s here, and he’s promising he’ll always be here, and she knows they don’t just mean to help repair the false parts of the corpse body they inhabit.
She’s been — distant. For a while. Swings between overjoyed that someone else finally knows they’re mostly - machine ( and loves them anyway, not disgusted as she’d feared ) and horrified that now more than just one knows that she’s barely alive. The Fatui knowing is horrible / they’ll want to study and break her, she knows. But NINE knowing frightens her so much more. She’s not even sure what she’s scared of — they don’t think he’ll abandon them, not like she had when they’d first escaped and he’d been terrified for rather than disgusted with her. And yet the anxiety ricochets through her chest. Being known like this is — not allowed. But he promises he’ll be there forever, and she believes them. She chooses to. Has to to stay alive, and she’s very good at that.
The arm lets out that familiar hiss as it locks back into place, and she raises it, moving her fingers to make sure everything’s in order. Elysia presses a quick kiss to the artificial wrist, an old habit / an old blessing. Then, she smiles at Nine, only a little shaky. “Thanks. It’s nice to have somebody else around to help out with my tune - ups.” It is nice. Even in the moments when it’s terrifying. “And — thanks for...sticking around. I’ll be here for you forever, too.”
After all — how could she do any less, for the one person who truly knows her?
