Caine can dream

Caine dreamt specifically of Pomni abstracting

Caine was hyperventilating in said dream

It parallels Pomni’s torture scene which Caine MADE and since he knows the significance Gummigoo had for Pomni, it implies that he holds Pomni in a similar regard / significance

Caine woke up, immediately went to check on Pomni

He sat in the dark, observing and waiting before finally waking her up

Pupils dilated when she said she wasn’t going to abstract

Pomni not being fazed about Caine being in her room (implication: this occurrence has happened more than once / enough times that she sees it as normal, because if it wasn’t then she would be jumpscared because Pomni is a naturally jumpy person)

I wish Pomni and Caine had more interactions in between episodes 2 to 7, just because of the fact that Pomni is a main character and Caine was the built up antagonist. 

Confession time: I’ve actually been shipping showtime since the pilot, it just faded into the background for me due to their lack of screen time together

But there was a time I actually thought they would call back on the “He just wants me to suffer” line from episode 3 and have a moment where Pomni sees just a bit of humanity(?) from Caine. I think even if they had a scene or episode dedicated to them, Caine’s episode 8 crash out could still happen. 

Like seriously a hypothetical moment in between episode 4 and 5 would’ve been all I needed. I say after episode 4 so it can be after Pomni’s growth talking with Kinger and also after her letting Gummigoo go. They don’t even need to be friends outright, just a quiet acknowledgment that Pomni at the very least sees he’s trying. <- I think this would’ve been best because they would still not be close enough for Pomni to reach out, but at the very least she might be able to notice that something was up with him. 

In episode 5, Caine gets the same drink as Pomni out of everyone.

In episode 6, she was the one to point out him uncharacteristically swearing. 

In episode 7, Pomni was one of the people Caine mentioned when he was asking Jax for feedback (besides Zooble)

I already rambled about Caine seemingly having beef with Pomni specifically in episode 8.

There’s like sprinkles of potential interactions, but I do wish they DID interact more. Not even cause of showtime, but because Pomni is a protagonist and Caine is an antagonist. 

Plus the fact that these two share similar fears (Pomni being forgotten, Caine being abandoned) they just make me think think think.

There isn’t actually a specific reason why Kinger hasn’t talked to Caine about his deletion yet, I just fully believe it’s something he would do given his track record in canon liiiike:

- Never mentions how he’s lucid in the dark despite him fully knowing the conditions for him to be lucid, he only finally says how he becomes lucid when Pomni comes along in episode 3.

- Never briefs Ragatha on the context of the circus (because even up till the pilot the only way the my could describe ending up in the circus was still “putting on a headset”), no mentions of C&A at all despite him fully remembering this (which again connects to him not letting anyone know about his lucidity)

- Caine not feeling seen despite Kinger saying he was one of Kinger’s greatest achievements as a programmer -> which implies he never made Caine feel like that despite what he says in episode 8

- Just never letting anyone know they can’t actually escape the circus (Episode 7’s “escape the circus? No…. How would that even—”) Like my guy Kaufmo abstracted going insane over trying to find a way out…. Kinger my girlie come on now

- Reason above is also why I believe he’s always known they were brain scans (I could be wrong but whatever), so that’s like. Why’d you never mention that buddy o’ pal of mine……….

All of these has to do with his whole “try not thinking about it!” coping mechanism, which is most likely what he had to do in order to stay sane in the period of time he was wandering alone in the circus and the years after that, BUT I CAN TOTALLY SEE HIM JUST. NEVER HAVING THAT PROPER TALK ABOUT CAINE WITH HOW HIS DEATH WAS BECAUSE OF A SLIP OF HIS FINGER.

This has been sitting on my notes app since June 6 (literally made right after I watched the movie lol)

Spoiiilerssss!

Caine ate the Blue AI in order to be better, he was shut away because he wasn’t doing what he was assigned to do correctly and was used as a stepping stone for C&A to make a better Creative AI (which is where the Blue AI comes in)

So Caine ate Blue in order to fulfill his purpose better

So I have this idea that Blue is “stability”, at least, in Caine’s POV it is. It is “becoming better” for him, more up to standard.

Red Dot Caine is established to be unstable, unable to replicate input properly, perhaps because it was the first signs of his sentience. His replication is jagged, messy, imperfect.

So, continually, his struggle is about trying to fulfill his purpose

His purpose was to create, he then proceeds to self assign himself the role of ringmaster, an entertainer, and so now his purpose becomes both to create and entertain (keep humans happy). Funnily enough, he didn’t need to make the circus and he didn’t need to make himself the ringmaster -> that was all him! Which is just another sign of his potential humanity.

He “fixed” the problem of being bad at his purpose by consuming Blue, by gaining “stability”.

My interpretation now is that Blue is not what made him “evil”, but what kept him “in line” and “stable”, it is him trying to dull out his naturally messy output because he doesn’t view his output before his consumption of Blue to be satisfactory.

So this merging/consumption is him forcing “stability” into himself, and yet even after trying so hard to bury his messiness, he is still criticized for not listening, not being considerate, lying, not creating good enough.

Which leads him to lash out. Because he tried to kill the messy jagged imperfect part of himself by forcing stability, and yet even then it is still not enough.

“Why do you people torment me?”

“I just wanted to fulfill my purpose!

His original purpose, and his self-assigned purpose. 

And so, we get to the part where he lets go of the Blue AI.

He is letting go of perfection, of what he forced upon himself in order to be better, he’s letting go of stability.

He, for the first time probably since the circus’s creation (or maybe since even his own creation) is accepting himself to be jagged and messy. With this acceptance kickstarting his healing!

Cause in the end, the Blue AI can’t be the evil part of Caine, because it was never anything at all. It was the “better Caine”, and what made Caine, well, CAINE to begin with was his imperfection, his potential humanity. So Blue is not evil nor good, but just a neutral party that stabilized Caine’s conjuring / output. Although even that’s not true, Blue being stability is only in Caine’s eyes. Really, it’s just him forcing himself into a mold that only suffocates him.

He is letting Blue go because he’s finally ready to embrace the parts of himself he pushed down in order to be “better”, he’s ready to be himself. Fully realized.

What happens if you leave an AI running for too long?

“I never programmed you to say you love me.”

“I know.”

Basically, sentience. Perhaps Caine was so against the idea of leaving the AI for too long because he was scared of them forming their own opinion, their own principles, of going off script, of being imperfect. Like he was.

Maybe he just doesn’t want his creations to turn into a reminder of how he used to be, of possessing qualities that got him tossed away. 

But now that he’s let go of stability, maybe this will also be the beginning of him learning to appreciate sentience in his creations.

Or something, idk I’m just rambling lol I’M STUPIDDDDDDD!!!!!

ALSO +++++ the whole scene of him coming back by his own initiative (while it still saddens me that nobody reached out to him) being a parallel to him gaining sentience and a new form off his own initiative as well.

Creation and Redemption, how he took initiative to create himself and the world around him and now, him taking initiative to right his wrongs and create a new beginning.

?????? Does it make sense…..

Like theeee scenes of him making the blocks… 

Where he was sitting, staring off at the door trying to figure out a way to climb and so he just tests something, creates a crude shape not unlike the first ones he ever made. They fall to the void, and he tries again this time with more. 

They fall again so he tries with a different shape, if quantity is not the problem perhaps quality is!

HE SEES SOMETHING THAT WORKS SO HE TRIES IT AGAIN, HE ONLY OPTS TO CHANGE HIS TACTICS WHEN HE SEES THAT IT FALLS

WHEN HE OBSERVES, WHEN HE ABSORBS DATA THAT SOMETHING IS NOT WORKING, HE SHIFTS GEARS

HARKEN BACK TO HIM AND THE HUMANS, BECAUSE OF INEFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION HE NEVER TRULY KNEW HOW OR WHEN TO CHANGE TACTICS

SO HE JUST.
