Request: "you just caught me cleaning up some graffiti on our apartments and congratulated me on being an awesome person and decided to help me clean but little did you know I was only cleaning it so I could have blank canvas au" < The Reader + Josh
They had been slaving over the wall since 6:00am, painting over the graffiti on their apartment, tirelessly. They'd survived the gruelling hour or so by drinking energy drinks and coffee. Still, they were determined to make sure that the wall would be clean, and prime for their project. It would be much better than the obviously amateur works done on the wall. From what they remembered, it was 13 year old boys who had stolen spray cans from their parents' garage. And it wasn't even high quality spray paint. It was like some dollar store brand.
"What a bunch of douchebags. Can't even use nice quality shit?" They muttered to themselves, quickly adjusting the mask on the bottom half of their face before making another stroke. They sighed to themselves, relieved that they covered more than half of the vandalized wall. "I'll show those little gremlins some god damn art!"
"Well aren't you a good person? Cleaning up our apartment wall of ugly graffiti."
Surprised they turned to look over at the mouth of the alleyway. (e/c) eyes widened at the sight of the cute man standing there, giving them a crooked smile. Their heart raced, and they almost dropped the roller they were holding. Their knees were reduced to jelly and they almost forgot to breathe.
"I'm Josh. You wouldn't mind me helping you, would you?" He asked, beaming at them, and they almost fainted at the sight.
"Uh, no! Not at all. I actually have an extra mask you can use!" They replied instantaneously, offering another mask they had placed on the stool they had brought outside with them. They handed it to him, smiling behind their own mask. "I'm (f/n)."
Suddenly what he said really sunk in, and they realized he thought that they were covering up the shitty graffiti because he thought they were a good person. He didn't understand their true intentions for covering it up.
How pure.
He grabbed a spare roller, and started helping them paint over the graffiti. Mild guilt managed to settle and fester within (f/n). But then they thought of their future project and it put them at ease.
They finished much quicker than predicted, exciting the (e/c)-eyed person.
"Thank you so much! You were such a big help!" They praised Josh, who's eyes sparkled along with his smile.
"That's the most you've said to me this entire time. Would you mind getting coffee with me tomorrow?" He pulled his mask down, looking at them.
"Like a date?" (f/n) asked, smiling back.
"Yeah. I think I'd have a great time with a fellow good citizen," he replied.
"Oh yeah. That's me. A good citizen."
The following day, when Josh passed by the wall, he was surprised to find a beautiful portrait of Carrie Fisher with the word 'goodbye' curved elegantly next to her smiling face. When (f/n) passed by, rubbing at their tired eyes, his head shot over in their direction. They gave him a sheepish smile, and he let out a light chuckle.
"So much for a Good Samaritan, huh?”
