i watched Sardar Udham Singh yesterday
and i very much get why people don't want it go for the oscars.
a) An Indian film, with an Indian cast. duh. had this film been made in the US it would've gotten at least 3 oscars, for costumes and acting alone.
b) It shows the true face of the British empire. Demons. Shows the demented thinking of Churchill and O'Dwyer and Dyer. So obviously they can't have that released or appreciated globally cause these guys are war heroes. and so they give an absurd excuse like "hatred against the British." and that too given by an Indian Bengali, Indraadip Dasgupta
the only reason i can think of this film's disqualification is the length, which is 150 minutes, but such a lengthy time period is required to capture the intensity and brutality of the British Imperialistic regime.
please watch this film. it might not have made it to the oscars cause of a shitty reason, but at least we can all live the horror that was British colonialism.
