Hello! From the blog you run, I suspect you take some form of martial arts! If so, what style do you practice, and if not, what kind would you like to study? I practice and teach the style Uechi Ryu, and it's always interesting to learn about other people's interests. Cheers!
What is Uechi Ryu?
I train Capoeira, I trained in Aikido briefly with @thenonbinarywarrior, and I am planning on trying out Tang Soo Do in the fall.

I have to say i was shocked to see my name go up on the test list last month, only a year after recieving my shodan, but my senseis believed in me and i am proud to say that yesterday i was promoted to nidan in uechi-ryu karate. It was the smallest and most intense test i’ve been part of, only 2 of us so there was no time to rest but we powered through. I never thought i’d make it this far before life got in the way, but this is the biggest accomplishment i’ve made in my 21 years. During the post-test comments, my sensei said that our test looked no different from the ones he’s seen in Okinawa, and that he was so happy to see the next generation preserving the authenticity of our style. It was literally the best compliment i’ve ever recieved. Ever. I’m so pumped i don’t even care that i bruised the crap out of my foot while sparring
Edit: some people have been asking, i'm the short one hehe
I competed in a Uechi Ryu kata tournament today and got 2nd place for my division (experienced adults 18-35 y/o) I'm happy happy happy :)
a dance party but instead of dancing, everyone does katas

You learned your basics with the first two forms, then everything went haywire, the forms were lists of techniques, no…

Comparing the Power of Karate to the Power of Kung Fu
The instructors in Karate and Kung Fu don’t tell you what I am about to tell you. The reason is simple, they don’t know, or if they do know, they don’t really understand. Which is to say they surround it in mystical terms. With Matrixing, of course, there are no mystical terms. There is only the real science of the martial arts.

How to have the strongest punch, the most powerful punch, in the universe!
Newsletter 860 Gordon Liu, Cal Worthington, and the Most Powerful Punch in ALL the Martial Arts Let’s talk about perfection in your work outs. I’m pretty lucky. I grew up through the so called golden age of martial arts. Though, truth, I think the golden age is just over the hill, we’re on the cusp of great things, things that the ancient masters would eat their hearts out for. So, in this golden…
