An appreciation post for the best dad in all of the lands

Koji of Our Dining Table

His wife died. The love of his life died, yet instead of turning inwards, he continued to show his two sons the love they would experience if his wife was still there.

He still speaks to his wife, which encourages his sons to do the same because even though she has passed, her love is still grounded in everything they do.

He has dad jokes.

He is never bothered that his sons don't leave food for him.

He brings them food all the time even though they eat without him.

He doesn't yell at his sons, even when they are acting up.

He plays with Tane all the time, even when he is tried.

He knows what is happening with Minoru but doesn't push it.

He drops big hints to Minoru that he is fine with what is evolving between him and Yutaka.

He speaks directly to Yutaka and tells him he considers him family.

He also calls Yutaka "Yukata" like Tane.

He gives Yutaka and Minoru moments to be together without Tane.

He is involved in his sons' lives and talks to them kindly.

He raised two emotionally intelligent boys who care just as gently as he does.

He will be the best father-in-law to Yutaka because he is already the best father-in-law to Yutaka.

He is simply the best.

Personal Impression: Bokura no Shokutaku.

I love it! I love it! I LOVE IT!!!

I don't know what else to say. 😭🤣

I love everything in it: the story, the characters, the food, the chemistry, the vibes, the songs, everything. So so precious and lovable. It's PERFECT!

At first I didn't expected anything. I just saw the poster and thought it would be a heart warming and comfy dorama. I really don't know that it was an adaptation of a BL manga.

Then, after episode 2, when Minoru said to Yutaka, "Having you here is enough." I WAS SOLD! 🤣😭

One thing that I cherished from this series is about acceptance. Yutaka, being accepted like a family, one thing that he always struggling towards his adoptive family. And, Minoru, being accepted with the hole inside of him after his mother passed away and he had to take care the little Tane-kun. The way it delivers in the story was so beautiful.

Then, Minoru!! My man!!! My cheeky man!! 🤣

It's really a joy to watch Minoru falls first and then he falls harder for Yutaka. 🤣🤣🤣

Yutaka~ The sweet and gentle onigiri~ So adorable and precious!

Tane-kun~ The little one who connects them.

And ... Otousan! The MVP! The one that support Minoru, he always understand the situations and took Tane-kun's away so his boys could talk. 💕

This really a heartwarming and comfy story of a love and family. I adore it so much and still rewatch it on daily basis. 😁

There's slightly difference with the manga. In the manga, there's no scene of Yutaka reconciled with his adoptive older brother like in the TV show. Yet, the manga had more reasonable story order. That way, both works complete each other. 💕

It's such a PERFECT story with perfect characters (and casts). I just love it. Nothing else for me to say. 🤣

And, through this dorama, I found my admiration to Yukata aka Inukai Atsuhiro. Well, that's another story to tell. 😁

May the four of you will always live happily and well~ My precious ones~ 💕🍙

So if you ask how I'm doing after episode 10 of Our Dining Table, well . . .

Why is Koji the best dad? EVER? He did everything right this episode. EVERYTHING!

He gave Minoru and Yutaka time to have a date without Tane, then Yutaka got in his head and moved away from Minoru's touch.

But Koji noticed his son's behavior when he got home from the date, and jumped into fix-it mode. He knows Minoru is too kind to push anything with Yutaka, and even though Minoru seems annoyed at his father's antics, Koji's heart is always in the right place. He understands these two boys love each other, but on their own, they will let the distance grow.

So he gives them a way to be with each other. He tells Yutaka he has to stay the night. He leaves them alone. He allows them to be close.

He consoles Yutaka!

Which allows the boys to be there for each other.

Because Koji cares for all his boys. ALL. OF. THEM.

So Tane easily understands that Yutaka is family.

I could (and probably will) write thousands of words on this statement alone, but while Yutaka worries about his place in their life, and overthinks how to define himself in their lives, and Minoru doesn't want to overwhelm Yutaka, Tane gets exactly what his dad has taught him.

Because Koji teaches all of his boys how to love openly and without fear. He teaches them to be proud of that love and not coward away from it. He teaches them that when you love someone, you don't hide it. He teaches that you love your family, even when they aren't there.

And Tane understands that Yutaka is family.

Koji made sure of that.
