April 23rd: In 1964, Ufiti, a chimpanzee captured in Malawi, a place thought to have no chimps but are seen by locals, died in captivity shorty after it was brought to Britain. It is theorized that Ufiti was an escapee who was living in Nkata Bay.

Cryptid of the Day: Ufiti

Description: At first glance, there doesn’t seem to be anything unique about Ufiti, just an ordinary chimp. But Ufiti was different, in that she was a chimp found in Malawi, a country with no chimp population. This has sparked debate over whether Ufiti was an escapee or a new sub-species of chimp. Sadly, she has been the only chimp found in Malawi.
