⚫️The 1st Principle of Kwanzaa is Umoja (Unity). Tree Pose aka Vrikshasana was chosen in observance of #Ujoma. There is power in numbers. Umoja stresses the importance of standing for and supporting the family, community, nation and race. We, like trees, grow stronger when planted and nourished in supportive soil. It facilitates the growth of branches and blooms symbolic of future generations, and the impact of our actions in the world. The roots of the tree depict our deeply rooted connections to our families, ancestors, our tribe, communities, earth, God and our #ROOTCHAKRA. The tree assures us that we are not alone and symbolizes our deep connections. Each tree is different in some way and serves its own individual purpose. You, like a tree, have a purpose to serve for the greater good of the people. ⚫️There are many different variations for tree pose. Choose the one that works best for you. ⚫️Stand tall and straight with arms by the side of your body. Shift weight slightly into left foot remembering to breathe throughout this asana. Bend the right knee touching the left ankle with the sole of your right foot, staying here or moving your foot up to your side calf, high up on your inner thigh or lotus (do what feels best for you). Never place foot on knee. Straight spine. ⚫️Set your gaze in front of you or on one spot in the room. A steady gaze and relaxed breathing helps maintain balance. ⚫️HABRI GANI (What is the news?) 1. Repost flyer and use hashtags #KWANZAAYOGACHALLENGE & #BLACKMINDSINMEDITATION 2. Follow ALL Hosts and Sponsors. 3. Post your photos daily, use hashtags and tag hosts & sponsors daily so that we can see and support you. 4. Tag others to join you.
