I haven't shat on the BBC in a hot minute
Let's fix that
UK: How can we do well at Eurovision again?? Is there something we're missing??
Sweden: Well competing in the semi finals helps perfect your act
Austria: Feeling passionate about your song is a bonus
Norway: Stop blaming other countries for why you suck so much
UK: What was that about blaming other countries? 👀
@ bbc
Did somebody order a 1968 meme?
So a while ago I was playing through Professor Layton and Pandora’s Box (which is an absolutely amazing game, go play it if you still own a Nintendo DS) when I got to this part:
And of course this just reminded me of...
So glad this aspect of British culture was included 😍
(You could replace this with almost any year where the UK didn’t win tbh, I just went with 2019 on the grounds it’s recent, the UK performed badly, and the Eurovision logo was clearly visible)
(And yes, if you're not familiar with the game, the character is being a sore loser. You didn't really think I'd validate the UKs rigging accusations now, did you?)
Yanno Newman's performance made me realise something
The BBC doesn't know how to stage like... At all.
Because like... having two giant Styrofoam trumpets doesn't mean shit if you're like. Not gonna do anything with them. They barely moved throughout the performance, they didn't project anything on to them, didn't have them spray confetti or glitter, the background didn't do much and let's face it, Newman wasn't much of a charismatic performer compared to some of the other artists.
Plus his voice was flat af 🤣
The song may have been modern but the performance was still stuck in the 90s and didn't seem to realise just how much a modern song needs to have good camerawork and staging.
