The Temple of Fluithuin, Mother of Flesh:
Fluithuin, consort of Melko, the flesh devourer, and ogress, one of the forgotten characters. This is part meta and part HC, I will write under each topic which is which.
What is an Ogres? (meta)
Ogres are mentioned in the early drafts; some seem to have been bred by Melkor, like Orcs, Gongss, Úvanimor, and dragons. The Orgres are described as being giant cannibals,
No ogre is ever mentioned in the annals of the Elder Days, and none are known to have played any role in the wars and battles other than mythical and undocumented. It is entirely possible that they were simply a mythical race.
The Cult of Melko and Myths? (meta/HC)
During the Riddle game, with Gollum, Bilbo tries to solve Gollum's fifth riddle, and begins thinking of all the giants and ogres he had ever heard of - likely in folktales.
In The Lay of the Children of Húrin, Húrin's helm "was hewn in war when he battled with Beren his brother-in-arms against ogres and Orcs and evil foemen" in the first version, and "hewn in wars when he battled with Beren as brother and comrade against ogres and Orcs and evil foes" in the second. Ogres become a mythical creature that only the bravest of heroes have ever faced.
Tolkien and his brother Hilary once gave a miller and farmer, "White Ogre" and "Black Ogre", because they frightened the boys. These two characters do appear in stories written by Hilary Tolkien.
Sauron calls himself Morgoth returned, likely to gain support for those who were loyal to Melkor, and would have reason to try and gain Fluithuin´s support had she existed, as he tries to become a messenger of sorts for Melkor in Númenor. Fluithuin would be an important factor in building the cult, as she is a mother figure, meant to symbolise the life Melkor can give. Melkor and Fluithuin become a symbiosis, with Melkor being the start as the first Vala and the end as the most powerful, and Fluithuin becomes all in between; she becomes life as Melkor is birth and death.
Fluithuin the Mother? (meta/HC)
Fluithuin was the mother of Gothmog, one of the Valarindi (children of the Valar) in earlier versions and drafts. Her name Ulbandi contains the element ulban, meaning monster/giant in Quenya. Her name Fluithuin, Gnomish, has an unknown meaning.
Gothmog's death would likely be her biggest defeat, whether he was her son or not, as even if she was not his mother they most have played a close role for their realshenship to be understood as parent and child, but it would also empower Melkor haveing all allought heir, and proof that he could procreate, something we know from a lot of versions he wanted to be able too. Giving the belief that Gothmog was their son would both have strengthened Fluithuin´s claim and ability to be remembered, and Melkor.
Mother of Flesh. (HC)
Tolkien endded discarded the idea of the Valar having children, and Fluithuin was abandoned, but what if she lived on as a myth for all of Melkor´s creatures and followers, becoming a holy figure, the only one to bear a Vala a child? We know Melkor always wanted his own child. Was she a god in her own right? Something to pray to, instead of Melkor? But as a holy deliverer, both of words and flesh.
Obscure Tolkien Blorbo: Round 1
Ulbandi vs Miaulë
Ulbandi:
An ogress from the early drafts of the legendarium, also known as Fluithuin.

Miaulë:
Tevildo’s cook in an early version of the legendarium.

Round 1 masterpost
One of my favorite discarded characters of Tolkien’s Legendarium is Fluithuin, once said to be the mother of Gothmog via Melkor. A theory of hers that I especially love is that, “—she was a Maia infatuated with Melkor, sought to have a kid with him, violated the ban of Eru (that stated Aniur would not interfere, with the Children of Illuvatar) and thus was cursed, made barren, and transformed into a hideous Ogre.” The New Notion Club Archives
Orcs on Gothmog
They call him Kosomot, son of Ur-furzûk, and he is the very image of his father’s strength. His coming upon the field of battle is met with zealous triumph. The sheer pleasure of this religious ecstasy is only just greater than the terrible fear orcs feel when looking upon him. They understand that though the Boldog leads them in battle, Kosomot is the High Captain of Angband and they are merely a part of his catastrophic plans. Gothmog does not think of orcs. Gothmog thinks of Melkor; the orcs are mere columns on a map to ensure Melkor remains upon the throne of the world. I believe the Balrogs to be a religious order, the Knowers of Might, the first to join Melkor in the Ainulidalë and within Eä. They genuinely believe Melkor to be the true God and see Eru as the breath taken before singing, an anticipation only of the Song. The rebellious Ainur in Valinor are heretics and thieves and in case it needs saying again, Gothmog does not think of orcs. Gothmog thinks of Melkor and is sanctified by his faith.
