There's something fascinating to me about the idea that Captain Marvel's ship is powered by hope and so she is making sure she remains in love with America, forcing herself to focus on everything she's lost, and leaning into her desire - her hope - that America will need her again. It takes this very wholesome idea - our ship is powered by our hope for the future - and really pushes it in a darker direction.

I'm curious how things will be when she and America do reunite.
