Ciel, how do you feel about people who are scared of clowns?
Ciel: "Hmm... I'd say I tend to look at it from a different angle? I don't think people who are scared of clowns are doing it on purpose, though you'll always find someone who feels a little too vindicated and acts super rude as a consequence... you know?
Usually, because I have good control of my talent and know how different people react to it, and because I'm super young, even if someone does act rude about me being a clown, other people will ask them to correct their behaviour.
Anyway, I was trying to say something... uuuuhh... right, at the root of it, people who have developed a fear of clowns usually did because they were shown media that portrays clowns in a scary way, or because they grew up hearing that clowns are scary. They didn't choose this fear, but obviously I don't like that this happens. I understand why clowns (something joyful, for children) were used for horror... I've heard of horror before... but I don't like that clowns as a whole have become synonymous with some scary monster.
They're normally bright, funny, and joyful... that's like, the point. Now that I think about it, I'm also questioning how people react to horror media, not just clowns.

Story Teller: "In my first draft, Ciel was going to be a goth clown, and being upset about being mistaken for a scary clown was going to be part of their characterisation. The real Ciel that exists now is too self-aware for something like that."
