Alternative (asshole) opinion: I don't think hatred of Kylo Ren has anything to do with perceived "rape" or any feasible criteria. It's objective fact that he's a sniveling little bitch with no style, but the same applies to Marvel's Loki, who is wildly adored on Tumblr and people drive themselves into frenzy when you point it out. I'm therefore convinced that Hellsite just tosses a coin when deciding whether to love or hate a character.

I dislike Loki and Kylo for similar reasons.

I do not dislike people who like them.

(I do, however, vastly dislike people who turn Starscream into Loki.)

Re: post/170980294460 That's not what the complaint was about, though. There are a lot of problems with renewable energy, even on construction level. But the billboard's statement is phrased in a way that either misunderstands these problems or, more likely, presents them in a tongue-in-cheek way to make a a catchy slogan. Which isn't inherently wrong, it's just rather bad advertisement, imho.

Re: religion. If you want to learn something cool, I advise you to read about shamanism; claims of modern miracles/manifestations are included! (yes, this means that I'm tricking you into studying an extremely vast field instead of a single religion). Seriously though, it's pretty captivating from the anthropological standpoint. I'd recommend to read a general intoduction to shamanism and then, if a particular practice captures your interest, look into it further.

I’ve been thinking along those lines. Some of the things I’m curious about are at least shaman adjacent. I find the idea of a world or dimension that exists alongside our own aesthetically appealing. Also if actually true it seems like it could explain much of the muddle of paranormal experiences people who don’t even have any particular belief sometimes have. And because it can involve manifestations and such it’s claims may be in some way testable. 

I’m a skeptic by nature and by painful experience. But I’m curious about things, and if someday I found something other than bare materialism to believe in….hey that would be neat.

*deep sigh of relief* Thanks for suggesting those tags, I relly needed this to relax a bit. Yea, our culture has some twisted ideas on love & most of the time can't even present romance in a non-creepy way; I feel like YA (y'know, the genre most capable of skrewing the young people's perception of life) is especially guilty of this. I swear, every time someone mentiones bullshit "True Love" tropes, I feel like pointing them to what Greeks wrote on the matter, for starters.

Re: your romance vs. friendship comments. Can I hug you please? Because it sort of irks me that every close relashionship is interpreted as a romantic/sexual one & I really, really want to see more friendship-focused works. I'm not even asexual (nor am I saying there's something wrong with traditional approach to love, mind you), it's just... why is eros used so much as a central plot point, while all other types of love (sibling, friendship, ecc.) are deemed "less important"?
