UU Appreciation Week: Day 2
A UMA you appreciate: UMA Burn
Burn's probably the second most prominent UMA back in the first loop, and presents us with a ton of interesting information. Despite a simplistic design, and inability to speak in a way we can understand, we still get a lot of interesting stuff about Burn through a few key things.
1. Loyalty to Billy. Burn's got one of the more positive relationships to a human- not to Move or Spring's level, but up there.
2. Desire to meet Sun. A UMA with an objective beyond the spread of their Rule or suffering of humans will always be interesting to me. Burn's goal of meeting their creator is cool.
3. The Fierbois Sabre. I'm pretty sure this is the first instance of Soul power we see in the series- Burn's soul, his power, infused into this sword. It's an interesting thing that I honestly thought would be a bigger part of the power system, getting UMA powers sealed within objects. The only thing even close is Seal later on, but it's not the same.
Day 2 A UMA you appreciate
This time I decided to go for Burn! Here he's protecting Tella ✨
He's the first UMA that we see *willingly* helping humanity (even showing some loyalty to Billy), and ngl, I kinda felt his dialogue during winter arc- he just wanted to meet his maker...
Mind you, we didn't know anything about Luna or Sun during this fight. All I knew about the God in this world was that it make humanity suffer through UMAs and rules and yet- the UMAs didn't know anything about them neither...
Made this in like 20 seconds after people compared spoil x burn to the old yaoi stuff with weird ass proportions so here you go 😭😭😭
In the new chapter, it turns out that Tella also went on the Burn mission with Enjin and Creed. I understand why Enjin is there because he is Unburn who negates the rule of Burning so that means the mission can be completed with little difficulty. Tella being at the mission means he can use Untell as a defense ability to keep any attack away from Enjin and Creed.
Yes! My theory was that he was going on that mission and I'm glad Tozuka made it canon! The duo of Tella and Creed, the ultimate Attack-Defense team (then you add Billy and the War Trio is the ultimate team!) Though I honestly think that Tella being part of the Burn mission was a nod to the fans and a reference to the previous loop- Burn was Under's ally and during the Winter fight he protected Tella (under Billy's orders), so I really wanted to see their re-encounter! (Alas, we didn't actually see it, but at least we know it happened! Now we only need to find Kain again)
From Vol. 8 Extra
(If anyone has it with better quality and/or in English I would appreciate it)
Uhh here’s a list of my favorite men in order from undead unluck I guess
Spoilers ahead or something
