“ Who do you think I am? ” / daemon
╰› questions only sentence starters , @umbrensis .
she knows who he pretends to be. with his dyed hair and blue doublets. but she has seen his true self in her mind's eye - the silver gleam of his hair, shades of black and red, the dragon sigil that's not quite targaryen. she can also tell that he knows she knows. that there is something amusing about it to him. "i think you are not who you pretend to be." it's vague enough in case she has read him wrong, that she can hopefully avoid being backed into a corner. it has to be obvious to many, anyone familiar with wealth would be able to see that he is no simple hedge knight. it's a wonder he's made it this long unrevealed, but perhaps no one has cared enough to question him. and certainly no reason to believe the man is a blackfyre.
the questions makes her feel like an animal waiting to step into a trap. that she will fall into it by revealing the breadth of her knowledge or she will lie and fall into another. "are you going to make me say it? tell you which one you are?" it is the only thing she does not know - which blackfyre he is. and she would rather this game come to an than continue by forcing her to guess.
The wheel has chosen for @umbrensis (Maekar)
The sun beamed down hard on Egg's damp shoulders. The children had been playing by a fountain of cool water in the centre of the gardens, and all had been well - then a quarrel had sprung up between him and the girls. One thing had led to another, and he and Daella had both ended up in the water, and the poor statue had lost its arm.
"It is not my fault, Father." he protested, "It was Daella who broke it, I swear, and Rhae only fell in because she tried to push me."
she had never met a targaryen before. no one really had. the house had long lost it's once omnipresent air. yet margaery was intrigued. she had always loved dragons, her brothers used to talk about the under the cover of darkness, sneaking into one another's rooms when mother and father had long retired for the night. they all had their favourites, though margaery would never divulge hers. ❛ i read about your family, when i was a child that is. do you miss them .ᐣ "

❛ it would make you seem weak, & you must never seem weak. ❜ / maekar to aerys
idk which meme | @umbrensis
“I care not, brother. Aegor Rivers shall take the black. I will not see him executed.”
Weariness clung to Aerys’s every word, the burden of the crown clearly settling heavily upon his shoulders. He looked to Maekar and gave long, tired sigh. He was tired of having to explain this decision; to Brynden, to his nephew and now to his brother.
“It is what Baelor would have done,” he said quietly. “Of that, I am certain.”
❛ sword & lance have lost whatever appeal they ever had for me. ❜ / valarr to auriel
idk what meme tbh | @umbrensis
Auriel did not answer at first, settling beside her elder brother and slipping an arm around his shoulders, drawing close enough that he might lean into her if he wished. For a moment after, she said nothing, moving her thumb absent mindedly against the fabric of his sleeve. She thought back to that fateful day, about their father dying in Valarr's own armor. Who would wish to don such plate after that?
“You need not enter the lists if you have no desire to.” Her voice was quiet, stripped of much of the fire it had once carried. The long years of grief had hollowed her out, leaving weariness in its place. “You have already proven yourself more times than any man ought to be asked.”
She rested her head against his shoulder.
“You are the King now, lekia. You may do as you please. That ought to be worth something, at least.”
you're just like your father… / maekar to aure :)

“Surely that was meant as a compliment, Uncle.” The princess flashed him a wolfish grin from across the breakfast table, obviously pleased with herself as she stirred another generous spoonful of maple syrup into her porridge. She had arrived at Summerhall only the night before, yet was clearly enjoying already bothering her uncle and cousins. “He is your favorite brother, is he not?” Auriel continued, lifting her brows with feigned innocence. “So, naturally, that must make me your favorite niece.”
i see you are set on this, but be careful. you could be hurt. / maekar to daella
he spoke of marriage as if it were a battle, or a joust. daella was willing to own that perhaps it was, for many. she had heard the horror stories from this elder and that one, all about her great-grandmother and her ill-fated marriage to the unworthiest of daella's ancestors. her septa had instructed her on what might be done if a husband was found to be unkind, how such a burden might be borne. but were there not successes to be found? her own lady mother, may the seven grant her rest, had enjoyed a marriage of love even if it had been arranged. her uncle and aunt, too, long since reunited with their sons beyond, not to mention her grandparents. and even if there was no love, certainly that did not mean there could be no affection?
daella held her hands at her waist, ever the picture of a princess, her deep violet eyes the only things betraying a hint of frustration. everything else was in perfect control: her face smooth as glass, her posture straight. she glanced at the arranged set of portraits on the table, her choice among them set apart: the aged lord allyrion. she looked back at her father and tried to remember what the septas said about respecting one's father as one would the father.
❝ if you mislike my choice of suitor, father, then i welcome you to find one better. ❞ she bit the inside of her cheek. too much a challenge, that. she was not to be a burden. daella bowed her head, briefly. ❝ as is your right. ❞
