The details are confidential but I have fellow researchers from my alma mater who will be publishing, apparently, and I will follow last of all.
It came out of reading CAAO by Hayes. Initial findings are that 30% speed increases are possible with addition, likewise multiplication can be performed in as little as 3 steps.
A Japanese researcher reported he'd had luck with a 3D version but that's hard to code for.
I'm guessing chips could be significantly faster and cheaper to make. Or all this a pipe dream...
