Ingo telling them the story of how he met his cool niece. Another scene from chapter two of my fic.
An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
Akari and her twin brother are orphans, or at least they were. Rei went missing over a year ago and nobody but her seemed to care. When she wakes up on a beach in ancient Sinnoh, she doesn’t expect to find her lost brother- who has forgotten almost everything. As she helps him remember who he is and they work for the galaxy corps (and Arceus itself), they end up growing to really care for Warden Ingo- who is like Rei and showed up one day without any memories for over two years before he did. When they are kicked out of the galaxy corps, Ingo decides to officially take them in. They live with him for a year before Arceus decides it only needs one of faller now that Akari has helped the others remember- it gives Ingo the choice because he’s the most capable with his memories and Ingo knows he can’t leave a child behind (and especially can’t separate the twins).
Akari and Rei wake up at the gear station with Ingo’s hat, trainer Id and a letter for his twin, Emmet, who he told them to find. Now they have to find him, explain the situation and hope that they will be reunited with Ingo eventually. Emmet has a lot of conflicting feelings about this whole thing but he knows he has to take care of his new niece and nephew to the best of his abilities. They are easy to fall in love with and having some answers after five long years is great- he just wishes Ingo was with them (and that the stories they tell him of Hisui weren't so upsetting).
He also wishes the children would stop trying to fist-fight the wild animals. He reallllly wishes they would stop fist-fighting wild animals.
There are many, many, reasons he is relieved when Ingo finally convinces Arceus to let him go home- one of which is that he’s looking forward to having help with keeping the younger twins out of danger… until Ingo talks them down from chasing and wrestling a giant dragon, only to start fighting it himself.
Aka) Akari and Rei (who are twins) show up in Nimbasa with no family (other than Ingo, apparently) and Emmet does his best to care for them until Ingo finishes the Pokédex and is allowed home.
This was meant to be a one shot. In one day I’ve whetted three chapters 5k words each. There are minimum three more chapters or writes likely more. Brainworms are mysterious beasts and I should maybe wait until I’ve slept to post but idc.
They're a Family, Your Honor
This a weird idea, but it came into my head that Rei would sneak with Ingo, Akari, their Pokémon, and the Hisuian Zoroark Pack to the Future. It's not one I expect would happen, but Rei not wanting to be separated from what he sees as his Family is interesting. Rei could even hide in the LONG Fur that way he wouldn't be noticed, and he could stay with the Pack until Ingo realizes that Rei snuck with them and just take him home and introduce him to Emmet.
I know it may not be Canon to Zoroark Pack Ingo and Akari (My name for it), but I thought it would be fun to say out loud.
It is fun! You're right that it's not canon to the AU, but it's a really fun branch of it. I think this would be the branch where Ingo would be more involved and who Rei would consider his father figure, as opposed to Laventon who would fill that role in the main branch of the AU.
In the main branch of the AU, Rei sticks around and becomes the one to complete the Pokédex for Professor Laventon, having learned to be just as good with Pokémon as his "Uncle Ingo" was. While Ingo ultimately fixed the rift and subdued the frenzies of the Noble Pokémon, that little protagonist adventure actually had nothing to do with the Pokédex, so it ultimately fell on the people Ingo had personally taught in the art of battle and interacting with Pokémon. He essentially is the sole reason the Survey Corps had any competency at all.
In the branch where Rei sees Ingo as his dad I can imagine Ingo still being very wary about separating Rei from Jubilife. The kid still grew up in the village and had many people there who deeply cared for him. Rei of course wouldn't have it and I can seethings still happening the same way in the main branch, except a couple years later Rei shows up on Ingo's doorstep like Sup! Hey dad I also caught the Almighty Sinnohs for that book I helped Laventon make and decided since I was done with that, I'd rather be wherever you are. :)
Ingo's like. EMMET. DO WE HAVE ANOTHER SET OF ADOPTION PAPERS? YEAH I'M GONNA NEED THEM AGAIN.
You are challenged by Subway Boss Emmet, Subway Boss Ingo, and Subway Assistant Akari!
heheheh more Divine Blessings art! Flat colour version below:
So this is an idea that recently came to me while reading Dad/Uncle Ingo fics where Akari is Dawn that I haven’t seen done anywhere and I feel that it’s a crying shame!
Where after they come back from Hisui, Dawn decides to do Pokémon contests again and does a whole routine inspired by the twins and their partners. It can be summed up in two words:
GHOST TRAIN 🚂
And I’m talk in’ the whole shebang!
As in Dawn makes the sky go black like a literal dark and stormy night using rain dance and thunder.
She covers the stage in mist and fog and uses psychic to shape it into the silhouette of an old school steam engine that’s lit up courtesy of will-o-wisps that she then has her Pokémon ride all over the stage and above the crowd.
Conducting them as they perform aerial acrobatics all while she’s decked out in a beautiful ball gown inspired by Chandalure that glows in the fucking dark.
I want the twins to be fucking bawling their eyes out in front of their co-workers as they watch her performance on their big screen monitor during their lunch break at Gear Station because they’re so touched that she based her whole routine on them.
They don’t even notice Elesa (who of course helped her design and make said dress for the show) is recording their reactions so she can show Dawn later.
SOMEBODY PLEASE WRITE THIS FIC OR ILL HAVE TO DO IT MYSELF AND IDK IF I CAN GET THE CORRECT TONE FOR INGO AND EMMET
EDIT: I WROTE THE FIC!!
{Ingo’s S/o is in labor and is cussing up a storm.]
I-S/o, groaning in pain: Ingo, Oh...F*ck me!
Ingo: I already did, that’s the whole reason we’re here today.
{Oh the look I-S/o gave him could flash freeze the ocean.]
Emmet, who was filming: Welp, You were a good brother Ingo, I promise to send flowers to your grave every two months.
[Needless to say. Ingo and I-S/o laugh about it now, but at the time. He legit thought she was gonna murder him.]
SUBMAS BORROWER AU BAYBEEEE. Akari and Rei are orphaned borrower siblings living in Jubilife Village, the central colony of Nimbasa hidden within the subway. A mishap while doing survey work for the Galaxy Team causes the two to be discovered (and adopted) by the Subway Bosses.
Ingo and Emmet love their tiny kids.
@gt-ridel and I are collaborating on a fic for this au!
