Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru. After 45 years of Star Wars I finally have these two figures unified. Kenner released 20 figures in two waves for THE Star Wars movie (which later got titled “A New Hope“), plus depending on how you count, Luke (Stormtrooper Disguise), the Death Star Gunner and the TIE Fighter Pilot. Among the figures I as a kid most expected Kenner to release for “A New Hope” were: Tarkin, Rebel Fleet Trooper, Long Snoot (Garindan), and Owen and Beru. Given that these were among the very few characters, which the main heroes interacted with throughout the movie, they should have been part of the figure ensemble back then. On the other hand, which kid would have been excited to have these two as figures? And what kind of accessories would they have come with? It’s too unfortunate that this here is the only Beru figure for ANH we ever got and there are only two Owen figures which fit into ANH, where this one is the more common and less articulated one while the only other one is part of a rare SDCC exclusive 2-pack within the ominous Shadow of the Dark Side line. I guess not many dare to take pictures of these two not so well aged figures—but here I am and do it for you.
