i think jason and dick should argue more about dick being a cop, cuz i just dont see a good enough reason dick could come up with to be a pig.
this is me putting aside the fact it made almost no canon sense for dick to be a cop, but yknow he is one now and honestly it makes no sense for most people to become cops, so i guess they got that right 😭
anyway, i just don't see it being a non-issue between them. like jason spent literal years dodging the system and cops, and dick just being like "i can help people from the inside 😀" is some of the stupidest reasoning. if helping from the inside worked why tf would they need to be vigilantes?!
Heads up I’m drawing the cutest thing I have ever drawn in my entire damn life
How much, would you say, SJ's plans for friendship vows between men, and sharing their wealth, and being buried in the same grave was the-then attempt at same-sex civil marriage? Have you ever read a serious paper discuss it from this point of view?
Oooh. You know, we cannot be sure, but the level of closeness he talks about does go beyond a platonic friendship, imo, even when one takes into account the intensity of 18th century male friendships. The way SJ writes about it in his notes, it is sure intense - and what is particularly interesting to me, is the fact he sometimes slips from talking about this stuff between men into discussing romantic love and marriage (between men and women). This jump can seem illogical if discussions about men are to be taken as purely platonic, imo. Which makes me believe that, consciously or not, purposely or not, they were not strictly platonic.
Through these notes, he touches upon questions about bonds between people, and he kind of compares these bonds between men to romantic love between men and women ("compares" might not be the best word, but he jumps straight from discussing men and their bonds to romantic stuff between men and women, then goes back to men, then more m/f comments - it all flows together as part of the same topic. Yes, these are unpublished notes, but these things are treated in the same section.)
There is also the whole thing with different versions of SJ's notes on love and marriage, in which different versions are slightly different: some are "man and a woman who love each other are married" but we also have "two people who love each other are married" versions, and it's not easy to tell what's the original and what was changed later. That stuff is discussed here. As for serious papers discussing this topic: these are sadly lacking (people are not always eager to entertain the possibility), but here is a rare one (in French).

My favourite thing is that the trolls fandom saw ‘lesbian day’ and turned it into ‘Barb’s day’ gkdgskavriH
