When her father informed Chiara that he contacted the NYPD, she didn't expect him to say that he had cut a deal with them for her. In exchange of names and weapons, they would give him one man to keep his daughter safe.
Chiara had always been careful, she was born in this business, she had dealt with all kinds of things. She had to admit that things were getting a little difficult these days, few of her men have been targeted and killed in the past 3 weeks and her father was really worried for her safety . Naturally Chiara wasn't too concerned, it was business, nothing new but Arturo's decision was final. There was nothing she could do about it. Chiara would be put under protection, but it had to be done carefully, nobody except her close family had to know about it. Police is bad for business and would make the Santelli's look weak.
Chiara sat on the couch in the middle of her spacious living room, waiting for whoever was supposed to be protecting her. Her father was there as well, he wanted to make sure that his daughter was not going to scare the poor guy who was supposed to be helping her.
"Mi raccomando Chiara.. Fai la brava. È per tuo bene. (C'mon Chiara, play nice. It's for your own good) Our men are careless, they can't protect you like these people can." he said in a calm tone, standing beside her, a hand lightly squeezing her shoulder.
"You're making me look like I can't take care of myself. I don't NEED protection, I need better guns and a jet to get the hell out of here" Chiara tried to keep her cool but he could hear the annoyment in her voice and saw her nervously playing with her fingers.
"You know you can't do that, they would follow you back to Sicily." he simply answered as the doorbell rang. A maid opened the door, revealing the man he had spoken to and a younger man.
