I see your “Gaster Prime’s entry is glitched to hell” and raise you “He writes it himself as a scientific analysis of how becoming a prime soul has changed him”
my friends and i (credit especially to @/devicecontact (hi)) talked about it a bit more actually. gaster would be able to sniff out what hell's deal is pretty early on which is why the superorganism would take great interest in him. i don't know if it'd feel threatened exactly, cause the underground IS in the mouth of hell and functions by its rules, so i think it'd just start playing with him.
i really like the mad scientist/spiraling gaster idea just because i think it's fun to write about so you can just smash those two together. hell is able to hijack technology so it'd talk to him, give him clues and eventually lead him to his own demise all for its own entertainment.
hell would let frisk know of its omniscience again purely for its own entertainment, which is why you'd be able to find records of previous expeditions into hell inside the true lab. all this to say i think the terminal entry on gaster would be written by hell itself and it'd be ridiculously well hidden but still accessible. gaster on the other hand i think would be well suited as a prime soul.
real answer ends here what's under the cut is just me rambling some more cause this ask got the thought ball rolling
in a way you can also use this for sans' character. i don't think everybody would act THAT differently. since the underground functions by hell's rules (and hell itself is by ultrakill canon on another plane of reality altogether) then the saves, loads and resets are entirely given to you by hell. not to mention prime souls in ultrakill seem aware when you die and come back, which you could say means hell just takes v1 and puts it back together every time.
looking through ur concept of an underkill crossover and had a thought . do you think unformed chara prime’s soul would reside in the violence layer
nah, not at all. i imagine theirs sits in limbo purely because when they died they had unfinished business so to speak and also because of the way i interpret their role in undertale - as someone that stays in-between until the game gets a concrete ending. so definitely limbo
hello afonya entryn17 i would like to know more about gaster in this au of yours (so i could be very normal about it of course) :^)
i'm so sorry for answering this late i just forgor but yesss i'd love to tell you. i had thought of gaster being a prime soul (or at least a candidate) early on because no matter how the game's reality rejects him, he still shows up! there's trace of him, and one of the keys to developing into a prime soul is your determination/willpower which i like to think he possesses because of this. i can't imagine it being easy to manifest yourself in a world that doesn't want you there. the other is being a well-known individual in your lifetime but it becomes a little weird with him because i imagine he WAS well-known, at a point. (which also makes undyne a prime soul candidate btw! especially in no mercy :3c)
anyways! from here on @/devicecontact (hi) and i talked about it and they mentioned his terminal entry being fucked up which i really like as an idea and they also made me adopt the thought of gaster knowing and researching into hell and hell essentially toying with him until he got scattered across time and space. so hell presenting you with a terminal entry acknowledging his existence in some fucked up way could be a nice nudge in frisk's/the player's direction regarding exactly why he's gone.
i don't think what gaster and hell have towards each other is hatred, but rather extreme curiosity! which fits nicely because it's the underground's most determined that seem the possess this quality the most!
