Mind if I talk about moray from undertale yellow for a bit? thanks
ok so like
Moray really cared about clover, they both probably would have been friends if clover hadn't died, they were the first one to see them in the wild east and they were also the last one to see them as well (other than Starlo, that is)
Saying that they care about other peoples feelings and emotions a lot is an understatement. They were the ones that noticed when martlet was upset and was didn't really wanna put her in jail and even when they did put her in jail they still have her food and probably talked to her
Heck, they even called her asking if everything was okay if I remember correctly
Even tho Ed is the smartest of the group, moray would come as a close second! They are "the most normal" after all
Yes they did leave the posse with the others but it was for a good reason, they and the rest of the four were training for weeks maybe even months to just get into the posse and some random kid walks by and becomes a deputy in a day?? Thats just unfair. But they were willing for forgive Starlo right away if he simply just apologized, they said so themselves! ("Forgiveness is one apology away..") They still tried to get Starlo to understand why and even tried to get clover out of conversation because, well, clover is only ten(10) and doesn't need to be participating in an argument between a buncha adult monsters
The Geno/Vengeance route has some sad implications for them too, even when they weren't in the route itself, they were busy evacuating everyone that they probably didn't get to go get or see their parents and was scared that they'll ever see their mom or dad ever again after today, put that fear with the news that your friend since highschool just died in the hands of a human? Who wouldn't be terrified. I like to think they immediately went to see Angie and Gilbert to check if they were both okay and was relieved to see that they were and gave 'em a hug
And if you kill Starlo on a neutral route it's has some sad implications as well. Them and four were probably looking for Starlo everywhere, "where could he have gone?" "I'm sorry for getting angry at you", "I should have reacted better.." only to make the conclusion that he's probably dead and because clover was scared too tell anybody that they killed star, nobody knew it was them so everyone kinda felt it was there fault because of leaving the posse the first place, if they didn't leave Starlo wouldn't have ran away and gone missing, but what are the chances he's still out there? What are the chances you still get to say "I'm sorry" you'll never know, you ever will..the world resets as the story loops once more until the perfect ending
Peaking of the perfect ending (aka true pacifist) unlike what most people think, clovers death would really make moray sad like what do you mean the person I talked to just a few hours ago is no longer here with us? What do you mean a literal CHILD sacrificed themselves for monsterkind to one day see the surface?? they had their whole life ahead of them and Moray cared about them so much it hurts, they were the first one of the five to see them, they were the one that told clover martlet was okay when she was in the wild East jail, they felt sorry for trying to hurt them even if it the fight was a test of strength
and this
On boy, this..
Like I said before, Moray was the last one out of the four to see Clover
They began walking away before turning around and looking at them, seeing that kids face one last time without even knowing it would be the last time
They didn't know clover would sacrifice themselves, nobody did, they looked at them with the hope that they'll talk or hang out tomorrow but that tomorrow never came and it never will
Something I realized is that no matter what they do, no matter what any of the four do, grief will follow
Neutral? Starlo dies
Flawed pacifist? Ceroba dies
Genocide/Vengeance? ceroba AND Starlo die
True pacifist? Clover dies
They will be filled with grief no matter what
Someone will die no matter what
