So I just watched the new TADC and I loved it! The emotional highs and lows with more twists and turns than a rundown roller coaster! Great stuff. But what left me confused is that stuff Caine said to Jax during their dinner date thingy. Was that all an act for the adventure, or did he really mean it?

I feel like it was a little of both. It was part of the adventure, but the whole adventure was a means of nudging the gang into """proving""" that they loved Caine and would choose to stay in the circus with him if they knew he couldn't leave.
