thinking about poly!rosekiller where you’re in the common room together sharing a couch, evan at one end and barty at the other with you in the middle. your head on evan’s lap while he plays with your hair, twirling it around his fingers and your legs over barty’s while he lightly traces shapes making you a little ticklish. your just sitting there listening while they talk about random shit that makes no sense to you but you love to hear them talk and see them all happy and content.
You were trying to concentrate on training with one of your siblings but that was extremely difficult with Percy’s eyes boring into your back. He had been sitting on the sidelines for most of the morning and you could tell he was getting restless so after you beat your sibling you stopped and approached Percy. He stood up quickly, nearly losing his balance, as you approached. The stick he was using to play in the dirt forgotten.
“Stalking me are you?” You asked Percy.
“Maybe,” He replied, taking your hand and leading you away like this was his plan all along.
“And now you’re kidnapping me?”
“I guess I am,” Percy brought your entwined hands to his mouth, pressing a kiss to the back of your hand which resulted in a bright blush covering your face.
You both continue walking through camp until eventually ending up at the strawberry field. There were a few other campers around tending to the strawberries but you and Percy paid them no mind as they did to you.
You picked a large, juicy-looking strawberry and took a bite—the sweet flavour filling your mouth.
“Is it good?” Percy asked.
“Delicious and very sweet”
“I think you mean berry sweet”
You just rolled your eyes at his joke, picking another strawberry and holding it up to Percy. He bit the whole strawberry—leaving just the green leaves.
“Mhm berry sweet” Percy agreed, his mouth full of strawberry.
“You are an idiot sometimes, Jackson”
“But you love me,” He said showing his beautiful, bright smile.
“Mmm no,” You teased, “But you are berry sweet,” You said—using his joke from before.
Percy just laughed picking you up and spinning you in a wild circle nearly dropping you as you tried to wriggle out of his grasp. Eventually, he placed you back on the ground and placed a little kiss on your forehead.
You were lying in a field, staring up at the sky. The only sound was the gentle breeze swishing the branches of nearby trees and the long grass you comfortably sat upon. You watched as the clouds changed from a lion to a bunny, and the distant storm clouds travelled closer to camp. Footsteps through the grass could be heard as someone approached and sat beside you. You turned your head to see Percy with a soft smile on his face.
“What’re you doin’?” He asks.
“Looking at the clouds. See that one looks like a bunny!” You say pointing up at the sky.
Turning to Percy to see if he is looking at the bunny cloud but instead, his eyes are fixed on you with a massively wide, happy smile.
“The clouds are up there.” You gesture upwards with your head but he remains looking at you.
“I know, you’re just so beautiful.” Percy flirts, leaning forward to capture your lips in a sweet kiss.
You wish you could stay in this moment forever but the weather had other plans. The rain came pouring down and Percy took this as his chance to haul you to your feet and start twirling you around. The afternoon sun rays peeked through the storm clouds creating a picture-perfect scene from only your wildest of dreams. Both you and Percy were giggling and laughing, dancing in the rain and having the time of your life. All the worries in the world were gone it was just you and Percy, spinning around, acting like idiots with the biggest smiles. You were having fun — doing what kids are meant to do not going on missions or fighting monsters. The both of you were soaked to the bone but neither of you cared.
“We should- we should probably head back now,” You spoke, stopping first.
“I suppose. Wouldn’t want you getting sick now would we.” Percy laughed, grabbing your hand again and leading you back to camp.
Regulus Black is a complete arsehole. He hadn’t replied to a single one of your letters over Christmas even though you had sent him several. When he didn’t respond to the first one you assumed the letter had just got lost, so you wrote another. When Regulus didn’t reply to your second letter you passed it off as a coincidence but when there was no reply to your third, fourth, or fifth, or all the others you got angry. You kept making up excuses for him; maybe he was busy and didn’t have time to reply, perhaps the letters got lost, or he just didn’t want to talk to you.
The break was over and you had kept in contact with the rest of your friends and according to Evan and Barty, Regulus was writing to them. You knew that Regulus tended to push people away when he was going through tough times—you had seen it before—which is why you sought him out on the train platform. When you couldn’t spot Regulus on the platform, you boarded the train, heading to the compartment you knew your Gryffindor friends always occupied, choosing to sit with them instead of having to see Regulus. However, you knew you would inevitably see him once the train stopped at Hogwarts.
“I hate him. Who does he think he is to ignore me all break?” You exclaimed, walking into the compartment, sliding the doors shut behind you before shooing James down so you could sit next to Remus — the most bearable of the bunch.
“Who are we talking about again?” Sirius questioned, not caring much for your rantings.
“Your brother, dimwit,” You responded, the anger and frustration clear in your voice as Sirius held his hands up in mock surrender.
“What has he done?” Lily questioned in a sympathetic voice.
“He hasn’t replied to one of my letters all break and then had the audacity to ignore me back on the platform!” You informed them, voice growing louder.
“Well, I’m sure he has a good reason for-” James spoke before getting interrupted by you.
“I don’t care. He could’ve written and explained the situation,” You huffed, pulling out your book and ignoring them for the rest of the train ride, letting them be their rowdy selves without the judgemental looks from you.
You had arrived at Hogwarts and were walking down an empty hall back to your common room when you turned a corner and crashed straight into a tall, slim body. Hands grabbed your waist to steady you as you looked up to see who you had so ungraciously run into. You suppressed a scoff when your eyes met the stormy grey eyes of Regulus Black. Rolling your eyes and taking a step back, you watched Regulus’ arms drop to his sides before meeting his eyes again.
“Are you alright, Y/N?” Regulus questioned, ever the gentleman.
“Don’t,” You told him, not wanting to talk to him right now and ruin your otherwise great day.
“Don’t what?”
“Don’t talk to me and ask me if I’m okay and pretend like everything is all good when you ignored me by not once writing to me,”
“I wanted to write to you, Y/N, believe me, I did,”
“Then why didn’t you, Regulus? What was stopping you?” You asked, looking away from him to the stone wall beside you.
“You wouldn’t understand.” Regulus snapped, starting to pace the hallway.
“Explain to me and I can try,” A few traitorous tears rolled down your cheeks, stopping Regulus in his tracks.
“Amore, I can’t, I don’t want to. It will ruin everything.” He near whispered.
Stepping closer to you, Regulus reached up to wipe a tear from your cheek. You watched his movements closely, his sleeve falling down slightly in the process to reveal the top of an awfully familiar black tattoo. Your breath caught in your throat as you pieced everything together. You weren’t stupid, you knew Regulus’ family and what they were like, you knew they would force this upon him; your family was much the same. You reached out to lightly grasp his wrist, using your other hand to push the rest of his sleeve down.
“Regulus, what—” You are cut off as Regulus yanks his arm out of your hold. He looks angry and sad, and a twinge of something unrecognisable swirls beneath his eyes.
“This is why I never wrote back to you. I knew you would have this reaction,” He says, his voice pure venom, a stark contrast to his soft touch on your cheek mere moments ago.
“Oh, Reg, no. Merlin, I could never be angry at you for this,” you whisper, tentatively stepping forward to embrace the boy in what you hoped was a comforting hug. “I know you didn’t have a choice; this doesn’t change what I think of you.”
You wrap your arms tightly around the boy as he snakes his arms around your waist, holding you close to him like at any moment you would leave him.
“You should have told me, Reg, I could’ve been there for you and supported you.”
“I know, I’m stupid for doing that to you. I’m sorry.” He pulled away from the hug slightly to give you a precious kiss on your cheek and buried his head into your neck before he could see how much that simple gesture affected you.
You wished you could stay alone in the empty hallway, wrapped in Regulus’ arms forever, but you knew curfew was soon, and if you were caught out, there would be consequences you didn’t want to deal with, so the two of you walked the short distance to the common room, arms linked like little kids. You had lots to catch up on from Regulus not keeping in contact the entire break. Settling down together on a couch, sharing a blanket, you talked and talked, limbs tangled and leaning on each other. The quiet crackle of the fire and the comfort and warmth Regulus was providing you made you sleepy. Leaning your head back onto his chest, you closed your eyes, letting sleep take you. Regulus watched you as you closed your eyes, pulling the blanket further up your body, shifting slightly before closing his eyes and drifting off into a deep sleep, undisturbed by nightmares for the first time in months, all because of you, cuddled up next to him.
