“No way. Undyne..?”

This time, seeing a familiar face brought anything but comfort to Susie; she wasn’t even that worried to find this regular citizen caught up in this new, super weird world. Instead, she seemed.. more or less bummed out at the sight of Undyne, like someone had just sucked the fun out of her entire day. 

Not like being here had been that fun yet anyway, but still-- now she was going to have to watch her back with everything she did. Great.

“.. they even bring cops to this place? Talk about a buzzkill,” blowing her bangs out of her eyes, Susie turned her head to the side, trying not to make eye contact with the older monster. “Before you say anything, this whole thing isn’t my fault, so don’t even try blamin’ me for it. I might be a pain in the ass, but something like this is way out of my hands.”

After making sure Lynne was OK, Carmen’s next stop was Golden. She’s worried about people caught in the floods, and she’d had her diving gear sitting in her closet for months.

(As you do. You know, for emergencies.)

After performing a few rescues, Carmen turns her attention to the underwater wires, which are admittedly giving her some trouble. Wearing the diving suit doesn’t exactly lend itself well to using wire cutters.

She’s not alone down here, though. There’s someone swimming nearby who seems to be cutting through wires with relative ease. Must be nice to not have to use the scuba gear, she thinks.

Her voice comes out muffled through the diving mask, but hopefully the stranger can hear her well enough. Just in case, she points to the wire, miming a cutting motion.

“Hey, I can’t seem to get this one. Think you can cut it?”

“HEEP!”

Jeez! That voice out of nowhere- she’d practically jumped out of her skin! She had been in such a world of her own that it had taken her completely by surprise. So of course she had made the most undignified squeaking sound possible. 

“It’s a free forest isn’t-… isn’t…”

Eh?!

Her words were lost in her throat as she turned to see this giant fish woman. Who the hell was that tall?! Was she about to be killed?! This is it, isn’t it?! She knew this day would come! Oh wow she looks so strong. She’d only come to the outskirts! That’s as far as she dared to go on her own, wasn’t that even safe?! Oh no she even has an eyepatch.

“…it…”

Was this some insanely jacked sharpedo, or something else? She had such an intense look in her eye.

“I… I mean… I was just… Foraging… There’s good supplies… out here…”

I finally got some references redone! I'm actually really proud of how this came out! (I'm pretty sure this post didn't upload the first time, so if there's actually two let me know)

“THAT INCREDIBLY LOUD SHOUT ABOUT ANIME JUST NOW...” He squinted, stroking his chin in thought. “THAT SOUNDED LIKE SOMEONE I AM INCREDIBLY FAMILIAR WITH!” And indeed he was right. After scurrying around for a few minutes, his eye sockets happened upon a certain strong lady-fish who couldn’t be missed. Beaming, he waved furiously at her while jogging her way.

“I DIDN’T KNOW YOU WERE HERE, TOO! YOU SHOULD HAVE TOLD ME!”

Roy was currently very glad that he entered the coffee shop that he was going to meet Undyne in instead of waiting outside. He had already ordered his drink as well, not wanting to loiter in the shop without paying for anything. Realistically he knew that the employees would understand, as nearly every business in Frostias had at least that one person that showed up specifically to warm up in their store at all times. That was the cost of living in the coldest region in Dearu.

Now he just had to wait until Undyne showed up, so they could talk about current events in their jobs. He had heard some stories about the crime syndicates in Frostias acting up again, but hadn't seen any reports of it recently, so he wanted to get his hands on what information the police had gotten on the topic. So he had asked her if she wanted to talk about it when he was making these plans with her.

Of course, he had to wait for her to get there first.
