Conflict Resolution Studies - notes
A ten page chapter of tiny font cramped up into one of notes. The grey boxes contain the page numbers if I ever want to cite my summaries as sources.
For future reference...
“In 1991 the BOLD (Blood-oxygen-level dependent) effect was discovered. Parts of the brain lit up on MRS when neurons in an area received high amounts of sugar and oxygen in order to function. Researchers could see which parts of the brain were active around different stimuli. Glutamate (Glu) and Glutamine (Gln) rates change depending on the stimulus they had responded to. Repetition repression occurred when stimuli were presented resulting in increased concentrations of Glu and the BOLD effect, and then presented again resulting in lesser concentrations of both. The researchers aimed to test repetition repression. The researchers used simultaneous water-supressed fMRS and unsuppressed MRS at intervals between 0.2 seconds and 5 seconds to detect GABA, Glutamate and the BOLD effect.”
