Unit 2 Part A: identify the project aims and desired outcomes
The skills desired for leadership on this project are: to be creative, motivated, proactive, forward thinking, realistic, communication skills, ambitious, organised, adaptable, passionate and to have integrity.
The event is the Young Women’s Music Project End of Year Party, it’s to celebrate the work accomplished in 2017. It will be taken over by the arts award participants, so it will have a new perspective and will be executed by us. The aim is to have fun and reflect on what we’ve achieved. Desired outcomes are to showcase talent, for it to be interactive and interesting/engaging, attracting a new audience, to increase opportunities for young women which Oxford is lacking.
I have decided to curate an interactive poetry installation, to engage people around the room throughout the night of celebration. Poetry isn't usually shared in this way and I want to break down the barriers of writing alone and sharing with others what I have learnt in the past year. I don’t want to just keep my poetry to myself, I want to get people involved in it, I want to build confidence with sharing my work with other people, communication skills so I have a voice in conversations about my work and facilitating others.
The roles of the group link because every piece of work written will be response to what is happening in the room, whether that be the art on the walls or the music being showcased. We all have to take responsibility for the promotion of this event from the social media down to postering so our platforms will crossover via that. Communication is key when it comes to setting up and delivering the event so our roles have to cross over.
I will monitor my progress by photos and videos. I will collect feedback with on paper, on film and photos. There will be a comments book where people can write feedback in. We will also have a hashtags in an aim to appeal to people who would rather engage via social media.
Here’s a mindmap of what I want my part of the event to be like:
