Ground-penetrating radar has led to the discovery of 182 human remains in unmarked graves close to the former St Eugene's Mission School, the Lower Kootenay Band said in a press release. An estimated 100 Lower Kootenay Band members attended the school over the years, according to the statement. The statement says the Aq'am community conducted a search in 2020, and that the residential school operated from 1912 to the 1970s.
