I'm still working with forms from the figures in my last post, He Never Came Back, the pared down creature, the black sheep as I sometimes call it. I made these two figures in the last year, starting them at the beginning of the pandemic. The figures have become more abstract, pushing towards abstraction. These are covered in obsessive marking, stitching and thousands of buttons. The second and third photos are close-ups of the surface texture. These were made for a museum show that was cancelled, which is fitting as they were made about the reaction I witnessed to people who may have been unwitting vectors, and the pandemic led to the cancellation. Some sculptures in the woods at the site of a very old small pit-mine near my studio. I love to balance and stack the wonderful variety of rocks found in the forest.
