unnerving tw, I drew this thing under the cut
...forgive me if this idea seems insensitive, but... I just came up with a kind of unsettling Kamen Rider-related idea. Imagine, if you will... a Rider who uses the power of music to fight, and uses various records as their transformation items/trinkets/whatever. Let's call them... Kamen Rider Tune. They're peppy, full of energy, and love to brighten up the mood. Now imagine that at some point, Tune finds a Ride Record that doesn't have a proper name or graphic on it, it just looks like static turned into a disc, and the label on it looks like a piece of tape with "E.O.T." written on it. Nobody else figures out what it is until later, but Tune realizes what it is instantly. Later on, some especially tough monsters show up, and Tune arrives to fight them... but doesn't have their usual energy and pep. They're... somber, almost. Unusually calm. They pull out the static Tune Record and simply sigh, shaking their head. "You've left me no choice but to use this." They load in the E.O.T. Ride Record, and... there's no fun standby jingle. Just... static, static that sounds like it's coming from a gramophone. "Henshin."
The usual transformation activation sound starts, but quickly fades into static... and then... you hear it. That nostalgic tune you can never quite seem to put your finger on. They're now in a version of their base form suit that looks like it just stepped out of an old, yellowed photograph, and is fading into static at the bottom.
They're using the power of Everywhere at the End of Time.
"You can't remember where I was, can you?" Tune says, sounding... slightly defeated. Sad, even. They suddenly vanish from in sight of the monsters, and the camera angles changes to show Tune standing behind them. "Was I... behind you?" The monsters turn around just as Tune vanishes again, in a haze of static and with a sound like a crackle from a gramophone. "Or was I... over here?" They're back to where they were standing before... and now they're vanishing and re-appearing all over the place. "Here? Over here? Right here? Over there? Maybe I wasn't even real to begin with?" Tune vanishes once again, then re-appears in front of the monsters, but not QUITE in the same spot they started in. "...you can't remember at all, can you? Poor things..." And sure enough... they've completely forgotten. "You can't even remember why you were sent here, or what you were supposed to do to me... can you?" A sad, somber sigh, and a shake of the head... and they've forgotten that, too. "Don't try to remember... it'll just make it worse." A slow, sad walk closer to them, and then hands on their shoulders. "But maybe... you don't have to remember. You don't need that old life. Just live here, amongst us. Start a new life. Maybe you can find a way to use those powers you have for something good. Don't forget those, okay?" And just like that... they've been defeated. But there's no explosion, and they're still there. No awesome insert theme. No beatdowns. Just... unnerving silence. ...was it the right thing to do? Tune can't remember for sure.
