trick or treat 👻
I had to find something in my wip folder that was suitably angsty for you.
This is a post s5 au where ladybug hit send on her text to Chat. So Chat knows Gabriel was Monarch, but then she lied to Adrien about it, and Chat got upset and convinced her she had to be truthful with Adrien. This is the scene where Ladybug has just told Adrien the truth about his father.
…
“Thanks for telling me. It’s relieving in a way.” And more relieving that she is finally telling him.
“That’s not all.”
“It’s not?” He echoes, his gut clenching. That was all she had told Chat Noir.
Ladybug taps on the rings on his finger. “These aren’t ordinary rings. They’re amoks.”
He glanced down at the rings in confusion.
“Your amoks.”
“My amoks?” He repeats, and then it sinks in. He’s… he’s a—
“You weren’t going to tell me this?! What if I took them off?!”
Then he slams into another mental wall.
“Wait! You weren’t the one to give me these rings. It was… Marientte?” He stares at her unbelieving. She’s Marinette.
“Adrien! Please!” She reaches for him, but he flinches away.
“I don’t understand! Why would you keep this from me?! I thought Ladybug at least had no idea what my father was like. But you? Marinette! You stood against him time and again. And you cave to him now?! After he terrorized the whole city?! After he tried to tear us apart?! To lie to me?!”
“I just wanted you to be happy!”
And he turns away. He can’t even look at her now.
“Adrien.” And he can hear the tears in his voice.
“Please go.”
“Adrien, please!”
He clenches his fist. His rings, his amoks, cut into his fingers.
“I said go!”
DBH WIP Masterpost
I have a multitude of fics in progress that I'll likely be posting snippets and previews of, so I'm putting together a little masterpost of the general concepts and tags that will be used for clarity.
Synthetic Blues
Hankcon, Ongoing, on Ao3
Premise: Deviant Connor joins the DPD as a human Detective, gets thrown into the midst of the deviancy investigation
Tags: #synthetic blues, #jaewritesfic, #my writing
Malicious Compliance
Hankcon, Ongoing, yet unpublished
Premise: after a mostly peaceful android revolution, it's time to negotiate human presence back into Detroit - that starts with the police department. Hank is part of the group set to negotiate with a representative from Jericho.
One of the stipulations of the deal is that the android must be identifiable as such outside the military barricade that separates android occupied Detroit from the rest of the world.
Connor comes to negotiate on the behalf of Jericho - and he does so without skin. It doesn't get much more easily identifiable than that. Play stupid games win stupid prizes y'all.

Amnesia AU (untitled)
Hankcon, Ongoing, yet unpublished
Premise: After a head injury in the field, Hank suffers massive retrograde amnesia, including all prior knowledge of androids. He must now maneuver around a new world and more importantly, his android friend and partner Connor.

Rare Prize (Zlatko Experiment AU)
Hankcon, Ongoing, yet unpublished
Premise: somewhere in the beginning of investigations into deviancy, Hank gets a tip from one of his street acquaintances about one Zlatko Andronikov possibly being involved. He ends up in the man's basement while Zlatko tries to figure out what to do with him.
Hank thinks the young man on the other side of the stall wall he strikes up conversation with is another human hostage - he couldn't be more wrong.

Undercover Wireplay (untitled)
Hankcon, Ongoing, yet unpublished
Premise: NSFW one-shot, Hankcon undercover in a sex club. Of course devolves into some wire tugging 😉
Tags: #undercoverwireplay, #jaewritesfic, #my writing
All NSFW snippets will also be tagged with #jaewritesnsfw
List will be updated as changes develop with tags, status, etc.
Please feel free to ask about any AUs and any posted snippets!
the lamp [dark academia/crime]
His window was opposite mine and sometimes when I couldn't sleep, I would look over thoughtfully. The light from his little lamp was always on and I don't remember ever not seeing him there at night. The dark silhouette of his head would stand out sharply against the small cone of light cast by the lamp. He did not move and I never asked him what he was doing there, all alone at three in the morning (now I wish that I had).
First Paragraph Meme
Tagged here by @silvertalonwriteblr. Thank you so much for including me in this, I love it! I opened the first doc in my drabbles folder, and found ... drama. Damn this drama.
Rules: post the first paragraph(s) of still unposted works (chapters).

Aezir Outtake, first paragraph
Aezir felt the moment their soul split, when the hawk and cobra became one, and something more. The sheer power of it rocked him, head whirling as if from a true, physical blow. He fell to the ground, cutting his hands on sharp detritus of the ally. He pushed to his feet, bracing himself on the rough brick behind him. Magic thrummed against his palm, power glowing in a red smear when he jerked his hand away. Wards. A'ztcla. He leaned there for a moment, giving the world a chance to settle before moving. Because a ward like that, drinking down the power of his accidental blood invocation so quickly? Yeah, that was going to bring trouble, probably sooner than later. But he needed a minute to shift his world view, to wrap his head around what his magic already knew.
A wyvern, old boy- is that really your plan?
WIP Week (Day 3)
September 25: Your Previously Unpublished WIP
I started writing this fic because... well, I forgot why I started writing this fic... But I do know why I haven't published this yet, because it's incomplete
Pairings: Charles Xavier/Erik Lehnsherr
Warnings: Mentions of killing and blood
Summary: Charles and Erik are pitched as partners at the academy. They slowly fall into a relationship, one that's confined to their bedroom. It all changes when Charles suddenly goes missing...
‘Alright, we’re done here. Secure the evidence, send the body for post-mortem and - you know the drill,’ Erik says into the intercom irritably. Even though the man was killed two days ago, the metallic tinge of fresh blood is lingering in the chill air, and when Erik inhales a lungful of it, the iron tingles and settles restlessly on his tongue. It’s so potent that it overshadows the scent of wet grass and pine wood. Something’s not right.
Erik has never really liked the taste of blood. Never liked the way it feels to his senses. The iron in it is capricious when he searches for his water bottle to wash the taste off his tongue, he realises with another bolt of irritation that he has left it in the car.
‘Hank, draw up the reports fast. We don’t have all night.’ he spits into his intercom as he begins to trail back to the scene. There’s nothing out of the ordinary-- no traces of blood, no signs of struggle, no footprints or path trails. Nothing he can discern under his torchlight, at least.
‘We’re loading the body, Lehnsherr,’ his intercom creaks just as Erik reaches the periphery of the scene. The yellow tapes glisten brightly where it catches the dancing flashlights. The paramedic van is parked a little off to the left, balanced precariously on a mud bank. Sean and Hank are deep in discussion over a sheet of paper while a group of constables clear the scene with a mechanical diligence in the background.
‘Find anything else?’ Erik asks walking over to Sean. The red head nearly jumps as he hears Erik’s voice from behind him. Erik will never understand how he topped his training.
‘Fuck! Warn me before you creep up on me next time man,’ the redhead splutters looking up at Erik. And before Erik can react to Sean’s impertinent remark, Hank states, ‘No nothing else. Not until I can get these samples back to the lab and run some tests.’ He cocks his chin in the direction of the white forensic case perched on top of the Police car.
‘And the FIR?’ Erik asks folding his arms over his chest.
‘I’m done with mine and alex is working on the rest.’ Alex is scribbling over a piece of paper when Erik looks at him over Sean’s shoulder. The piece of paper he’s writing on looks nowhere like a department form.
‘Alex, I want the FIR on my table before seven in the morning tomorrow. Make sure it’s there,’ Erik says into the intercom as he leaves the duo and plods back to his car. The response from the other end comes in the form of a groan followed by a string of expletives.
Charles is already standing in front of their car when Erik reaches it. He’s leaning casually on the bumper, feet crossed at the ankles and Erik’s bottle clutched in his hand. Erik shields his mind from Charles’ telepathy when they’re working on cases. It’s something they both agree upon and have followed since the beginning, since they were pitched together as partners in the academy. It’s the only way they can keep their thoughts from cluttering and confusing the others’. In Spite of that, there's a knowing look on Charles’ face as Erik approaches him.
'You think something's amiss?’ Charles asks
passing the bottle to Erik.
'I know something's amiss. I'm just not able to put my finger on it.’
‘It’s nearly midnight, Erik. Give the boy a day’s time.’
‘He’s not going to learn anything if I do that,’ Erik says and swigs the water to rinses his mouth. The cool liquid dissolves the bitterness on his tongue, albeit a little. ‘Besides, he’s not a boy anymore. None of them are.’
As usual, Charles disagrees.
Wip Day 5
This is a previously unpublished WIP. Move Over Darling, a modern Olicity twist to a movie from the 60's. I still plan to write this but it fell victim the wime of the muse.
Oliver Queen was twenty-two when he met the love of his life, she literally fell into his lap. He had been home on leave from the ARMY, out with his best friend Tommy. When suddenly a ball of sunshine landed on his lap. She had bright blue eyes and blonde hair but it was her laugh that really caught his attention. She scrambled to get up but her continued laughter caused her to unbalance and fall again. The second time she fell into his lap he held on.
“I'm so sorry. I'm such a klutz. I swear this wasn't an attempt to hit on you. Not that I wouldn’t hit on you, look at you, all muscles, blue eyes and by that I mean...Hi I'm Felicity
” Her whole face lit up and spread warmth through the whole bar.
He was a little dazzled and almost dropped her but before she slipped he tightened his grip and said, “Hi I'm Oliver and it’s more than okay, why don't you stay awhile?”
She smiled at him, wrapped her arms around his shoulders, and said, “Maybe I will.”
From that point on she stayed by his side. Within six months they were married. His mother and father had objections at first until they realized that together they were a team. He knew this was it and she was his everything.
He could remember with vivid detail the first time she told him she was pregnant. She bounced, her face alight with excitement and joy. He thought that nothing could top that moment unit he held his daughter Olivia Queen in his arms. She was tiny and pink and everything perfect just like her mother, he was instantly in love. Oliver thought life couldn't get any better until year and half later when he's holding his daughter Ashley.
Life after that was filled with diapers, crying, laughter, and so much love. Together they started a small tech firm specializing in personal and cyber protection. On their third wedding anniversary, they used a business trip to Hong Kong as a second honeymoon. Leaving their young girls with Oliver’s mother. On that flight, and by the age of twenty-five, Oliver Queen lost the love of his life.
Based on the 1963 Movie:
Oliver Queen has struggled to get over the absence of his wife, Felicity, but when it seems clear that she's perished in a plane crash, he decides to move on. Oliver remarries five years after his wife's disappearance, only to find out that Felicity is still alive. When she is saved from the island on which she was marooned, Felicity scrambles to reassemble the life she lost when her plane went down at sea.
