im glad the greatest mafia movie ever made is finally getting the attention it deserves but of course with attention comes discourse. so i’d just like to remind you all that the katya/sofia relationship was absolutely revolutionary for its time, and it’s particularly incredible coming from a Catholic filmmaker.
The looks they give each other the whole time, the casual touches, promises they make each other,,, the DANCE SCENE,,, it was so suggestive I still can’t believe that made it to screen, i lost my sapphic little mind
Yes, it’s awful the way everyone dies violently, I hate the Bury Your Gays trope as much as the next person, but again - 1973. Also it’s a mafia movie of course everyone dies. If you can’t handle TPKs don’t watch mafia movies my friend
