OM Experiences Wicked The Musical (Live) - Brothers Edition (Part 1 )
tw: mildly suggestive in both Beel & Asmo's parts. Nothing explicit but just a warning.
Lucifer : "Are people born wicked or do they have wickedness thrust upon them?"
An angel turned demon being presented a musical about the complexities of evil? About how doing your best to be good can still get you labeled as bad? Doubtful that MC explained it that way, but the point is he will find a soft spot for this one without a doubt.
Getting ready is an event with Lucifer because he still believes in being fully dressed up for theater and there's not a chance MC escapes that either. This means coming home to a new outfit laid out on MC's bed waiting for them, and if he knows they have no accessories that match he has handled this too. Prepare for some in front of the mirror preening as a unit. Lucifer likes to see how good him and MC look as a together and it isn't a secret this boosts his already inflated ego a little extra. Hired a chauffeur to drive him and MC around the human world and wait throughout the show/dinner for them. Those waiting in line absolutely swooned over Lucifer stepping out of the vehicle and offering MC his hand to lead them to their spot. A lot of staring he ignores outwardly but is very pleased to have earned, intentionally focusing solely on MC.
This is a man who reads the whole playbill, front to back, while waiting for the musical to start. Will trace patterns on the back of MC's hand while he does so, not wanting them to feel neglected. He simply has to know everything he can learn about what he's about to see, especially knowing he is lacking the source material to get some particular parts of the story itself. Will refuse to get merch before the show in case he doesn't like it. Appreciates the set of every show and enjoys watching how they use/ manipulate the space for scenes, but particularly was interested in the steampunk thematics of this one. Likes to try and guess the idea of the musical based on set alone. Is never successful but sure tries his best and has fun doing it.
Starts out with a smile but ends with a sad and absolutely could talk about why forever but likely would not. Instead tells MC with a certain firmness that he liked it a lot and thanks them for taking him to see it. Does not believe that Madame Morrible was capable of such a precise tornado which happens to pick up one house and conveniently drop it on one particular lady for, as he will happily explain, weather magic is near impossible to be that precise with and if she did pull such a thing off it was a happy accident. Favorite song is 'No One Mourns The Wicked', this is in part because of the large feeling of the opening song. Lucifer feels music in his chest like a physical thing, so the more powerful/emotional/large it is the more he favors it. If he hadn't seen it live, this may not have been his favorite but nobody will every know. It is also because the line "Are people born wicked or do they have wickedness thrust upon them" just really sat with him. Believe it or not his favorite character is The Wizard. He doesn't think this is a good guy, but he does find him a fascinating character as he looks at him through the lens of his own sin.
Merch he bought includes this record here and literally whatever MC requested. King of footing the bill on dates without complaint and in fact, offense, if one were to try and pay their own way.
Beel : "Every way that you look in this city there's something exquisite that you'll want to visit before the day's through."
This is a guy who doesn't really give a flip what the date is as long as it includes both MC and a good meal. He knows without a doubt that any activity that includes MC is one where he has a good time, and caring for their interests is something that comes easy to him. No matter what he's good to go, so absolutely buy those tickets with confidence and tell him that is date night. Just don't forget to give him a couple of options of restaurants that would be good stops after so that he can look over the menus and decide exactly what he would want to try.
Getting ready with Beel is an ordeal. Not particularly because he puts a lot of thought into his outfits, but because he puts a lot of thought into what he could do to get MC out of theirs. He can't help it, hunger is hunger, and seeing MC all cleaned up nice for him, to go out with him alone, just does something he cannot describe to stir up that Gluttony. It's something he's pretty good at resisting, but god forbid MC gives him an inkling of wanting what they see in his eyes because that's one way to barely make it in time looking disheveled. Might be better to get ready separately. His go to compliment is either "radiant" or "exquisite" and he would call MC that even if they decided to wear a paper bag for their dates (though this would make him fret about rain so I wouldn't recommend it).
If one weren't to satiate that sin of his, then expect to arrive just about fifteen minutes early and spend the time waiting in line exactly like all of those 'couples in line at theme park' memes. In the human world where he's uncertain what potential threats could come, this is his preferred method of keeping tabs on MC without making them uncomfortable with a protective manner. First order of business when inside the theater is letting MC find their seats while Beel hits up concession. He has heard tale of these "soft pretzels" and intends to make sure you both get one...or ten. Makes it to his seat barely in time for the show to start so he doesn't spend any time really taking in the stage and instead locks right into the show.
If there's one big thing he takes from this musical, it is a strong respect for Elphaba and her decision to do what she can for the animals of this universe. He stands firmly on her side and thinks The Wizard can kick rocks for making her the bad guy. Favorite Song is 'One Short Day' which this is based entirely on how jammy he found it and the fact it stuck in his head for literally three whole days after the show. His favorite character is Dr. Dillamond and yes that would be because the character is an animal. Wants justice for Dr. Dillamond by the way, was not pleased the animal lost his voice and career thanks to a green wearing jerk.
Forewent the merch but when MC goes to pay for their merch he swipe his card instead without even looking their way. Nice try though.
Mammon : "Life's more painless for the brainless. Why think too hard when it's so soothing?"
Highly unlikely The Great Mammon is going to ask what the musical is about, much less look a gift horse in the mouth if he's being offered a free ticket to go somewhere. His agreement is quick, though he tries his best to make it sound like he couldn't care either way he absolutely does though.
Getting ready with Mammon includes him waiting for MC to pick their outfit first and then matching his clothes to theirs. He tries to do this subtly, behind the mask of dawdling since he doesn't particularly have attachment to this show and taking less time to get ready than MC would, but the match is just a little too on the nose for him to hide this intention well. Besides, he certainly does not take less time than MC to get ready, short of them being a goth who has to put in serious makeup time. Don't forget the time it must take to have a brief photo shoot together because he is not missing the chance for a new lock screen. Takes this opportunity to make sure MC smells like his cologne as much as possible. There ain't no way he's letting some human think MC is up for grabs while they're out of the Devildom. Rented a car for them while they're out and makes sure MC gets passenger princess/prince treatment the whole time. He doesn't trust their driving anyway after a particular instance involving a too short sheep attempting to get to their favorite drive through for food in the middle of the night. He was the one who had to pick them up after.
Constantly touching MC while waiting in line. Either slinging an arm around their shoulders, holding their hand, or having them lean against him. Standing can be tiring after all and MC deserves to rest. Immediately pitches the playbill, muttering something about not having homework just to see a musical. Happy to yap with MC while waiting for the show to start, either telling stories about his brothers or detailing his latest 'get rich fast' scheme and how MC can get in on it with him for a small cut (admittedly larger than he would have offered one of his brothers). Awed by the setup of the stage, may have asked MC if they thought the pieces were worth anything and gotten scolded for it.
Initially thought this might be some overly dramatic fairytale after hearing the opening song. Found himself invested by the first mention of The Wizard, mainly because without context he's trying to figure out if they're dealing with some fancy Solomon type or like a Gandalf (which he only knows of because MC made him sit through all the movies back to back one weekend). Was incredibly disappointed to discover The Wizard was literally just some boring human with no abilities and a giant head. Might insist MC needs a giant head to have meetings behind so they seem more intimidating. Cried during a few of the ending bits but refused to acknowledge it or even move and simply hopes MC doesn't look over to see the tears streaking down his face. Why he thought T-Rex vision rules apply to him crying in a theater is uncertain. Favorite Song is 'Dancing Through Life' as he sure did feel that way about RAD. His favorite character is Fierro, aspires to channel more of this particular character in his everyday life. Thinks Fierro and Elphaba are the greatest couple's costumes MC and him could possibly have. Prepare to be green in October ig.
Merch he got includes this long sleeve shirt which he absolutely rocks every chance he gets (but usually just wears at home with grey sweatpants iykyk). Chose this necklace for MC as a gift which he waits to give them until they're out at dinner after.
Asmo : "It's not about aptitude, it's the way you're viewed so its very shrewd to be very very popular like me."
Think of the posting material for Devilgram! Of course he will go to Wicked with MC. Now, the important part. What can the two of you wear that matches the show and will be super adorable in pictures? Now is the time to introduce him to the aesthetics of Glinda and Elphaba and explain how it goes together. He's totally in but he would fight MC for the right to be Glinda if they tried it so better go find one of Solomon's old witch hats in plain black and dust it off.
Much like Beel, getting ready with Asmo is also an ordeal. This, however, is due to a rigorous getting ready routine. Plan to start getting ready at least three whole hours before the event, especially if one wants their nails painted. This endeavor will include nothing less than a full skincare regimen, help with makeup should MC want to wear any, manicure + pedicure, and accessorizing the outfits that had been narrowed down days ago. Oh, and of course photos along the way to fill Asmo's feed and story of Devilgram. Don't worry about needing to take your own, he's happy to send you the edited versions of any he takes (this applies to any photo for the whole date). Asmo may be the avatar of lust, but dates like this have him too focused on looking perfect to worry about attempting to seduce MC. Don't tempt him too much though. One painfully slow removal of a robe to get dressed and he's right there to tell MC that all they have to do is ask if they want his attention on their body. Lucky for MC, if tempting him is their goal he can certainly make the schedule work around this detour.
Likes to be there early so he can peruse the merch, get photos where he can, and see if there are any good snacks to split with MC that would do numbers if posted. A photo of MC & Asmo in front of the signage becomes his new lock screen, but he splits the pic in half so MC is his and he insists on his half being yours. Announces this is going to be the case as soon as the picture is taken, and happily puts both DDDs together to admire his brainchild right after. As far as the actual show goes Asmo is not so interested in the design of the set, thinks it is a little gauche but in a cute way. No, nobody knows what he means by that just roll with it. Always a fan of the dramatics, this show is for Asmo. MC has unlocked one of his favorite musicals by taking him to see this and it will become a part of his branding.
In love with Glinda's character from the exact moment that she shows up and only finds her more relatable as the show goes on. A little bit of a Glinda sympathizer, in fact, despite the bad things she does/is capable of. This will surprise absolutely nobody but his favorite song is 'Popular' and the first thing he does when he goes home is make a cover of the song for his fans, complete with a miniature music video for it with a robe eerily similar to Glinda's robe from the movie. Buy him the movies btw. He will cry at the thoughtfulness of giving him the chance to relive the musical over and over at his own leisure.
Merch he picked up includes this Glinda fan, this cell phone strap, and naturally these green glasses which he saw as a great opportunity to style them and start a trend in the Devildom.
Belphie : "My road of good intentions led where such roads always lead."
Honestly he would prefer to be sleeping, but that is the sacrifice of a relationship. Therefore, he agrees to experience this musical MC is so excited about. It certainly can't be as terrible as some of the cursed records he's heard coming from the music room on Lucifer's days off. Mainly he wants to know if he can bring his pillow. Tell him no. It probably won't help keep him awake the whole time but MC sure can try.
Getting ready with Belphie is a MC problem. Basically he intends to wear whatever he started the day with in the first place so the only one getting ready is MC. He will nap while they sort it out, full upright blanket burrito style with no shame. If asked for opinions he will give sleepy but brutally honest opinions on whatever piece of clothing they chose. Now this doesn't mean an "ew, ugly", but if it is boxy, if they're swimming in the material, or if it isn't flattering then MC can count on him to tell them. Would be a great shopping partner because of this if he didn't absolutely hate the process of waiting for someone to try on a small hoard of clothing. The moment MC sits down on the bed to put their shoes on he's wrapping them in a warm blanket hug, an attempt to sway them towards the idea of staying home and napping with him instead. Do not fall for this trap. He will be snuggly, burying his face in MC's neck and holding them loosely around the middle. He might even mutter a bunch of sweet nothings into their skin in hopes to gain favor. It will end in going nowhere and he will believe he can succeed with this next time too.
Doesn't so well with lines, so arriving right before showtime would be his preferred. He has no interest in the extracurricular of browsing merch or getting snacks so this won't diminish his experience any. If it would bother MC though he will suck it up and do those things without complaint. Admittedly taken by surprise when he sees the stage and thanks to that steampunk dragon he becomes much more intrigued by this musical, whatever it is about (he was barely listening when MC explained because he knew he would just agree anyway). Wicked is thankfully too loud for him to sleep through, but 'No One Mourns The Wicked' had hooked him too good for him to care about napping anyway. Particularly enjoys the concept of "good" guys being terrible and "bad" guys being good and how easily perception can be warped by whoever one looks up to. Not his all time favorite musical but he would certainly see it again.
While the first half hooked him, the darker second half is what sold him. He wishes he knew the source material so he could understand why the scarecrow and tin man were so important and not just terrible magical misfires of no significance. Show him The Wizard of Oz, he would absolutely love the mildly creepy vibe of the movie and it might help adjust the ranking of Wicked a little higher in his books. Favorite Song is 'No Good Deed' for its power, but also because to a certain degree he believes that motto outside of his family (which is just another reason why he decided he was MC's punishment back in the day). This especially applies to that moment in I Do where (~~~SPOILER~~~) he loses his job because that one guy simply didn't like his fortune. His favorite character is Madame Morrible. Man loves a snake in the grass type and her change from in narrative from simply a teacher to mega mastermind working with The Wizard who drops a house on someone with intention is something he eats right up.
Merch he picks up includes this pillow...because MC didn't let him bring his pillow and he could sure use one for his way home nap. Unexpected joy it brings him includes Beel asking him why his pillow is screaming, which without context is a fairly valid question. Whether or not Belphie pays for MC's souvenirs depends on his mood so...roll the dice.
Levi : "Some things I cannot change, but 'till I try I'll never know."
MC spends hours listening to his interests and hyping up his media, the least he could do is return the energy in full for anything they ask him to partake in. That means even if musicals are a lesser favorite of his, he's pretending like it is his number one interest for the night. He for sure watched some of the Devildom's most popular musicals as slime tutorials online just to have an idea what to expect and figure out for himself answers to his sillier questions such as how he should dress for theater. Truly the research he puts in could rival Satan's.
Getting ready with Levi includes a lot of need for reassuring him that he's okay wearing what he chose, that it isn't weird, and that he will blend in with humans decently enough without being considered a "normie" amongst them. Adjusts what he is going to wear four separate times. Anxiety king about new environments that he does not know yet so enjoy that whistle note level of high vibrational energy. Despite this, there is nothing MC can wear that Levi wouldn't find them attractive in so if they want a solid opinion (ie. "Does this look boxy?) then they gotta make a pit stop by Asmo or Mammon to know an unbiased truth. Not one for matching outfits because that falls under "normie" behavior unfortunately, so if MC expected this they are set to be disappointed. MC doesn't need to carry a bag, this guy brought a fanny pack full of band-aids, a nail file, tylenol, and whatever else he could think of that might be needed in a pinch to keep the date from being ruined. Will put MC's DDD in it though.
Had them both arrive at least thirty minutes early to ensure they didn't miss it. Happy to use the time talking about the upcoming show and gain a new couple picture for his DDD home screen. His lock screen is non-negotiably set as Ruri-chan so MC will have to come to terms with that since he isn't going to budge on it. Lit up immediately upon seeing the stage with its giant dragon and steampunk design and will yap about that until the show starts with great enthusiasm. Only once the show starts will he hold MC's hand, and they have to initiate because he will get too in his own head about whether or not it is okay to do (this will continue literally until marriage btw).
Enraptured by the grandiose fantasy feel of everything from the music to the story itself. Show him The Wizard Of Oz after, he will think this is terrifying and nothing at all like the musical which is correct on both counts. Favorite Song is 'Defying Gravity' and that is in part due to the dramatics of it, though now he keep imagining if Lucifer's coat kept becoming bigger the angrier he got. He is unsure if this would be really silly or the scariest thing Lucifer has ever done. His favorite character is Boq, at least until Act Two where his allegiance changes to Fierro. Initially he was happy to see a character doing such a good thing by making sure Nessarose got to be included, even being hopeful their story would bloom into love. As the character dissolves, he becomes displeased with Boq as a whole and decides for the first time ever that maybe there's a reason that Fierro is the "normie" choice and he's going to have to agree.
Merch he gets includes these green glasses which he thinks are pretty cool and this mystery sticker pack. Secretly collects stickers so he was thrilled to be able to get some from this date and remember it forever. Uses them to decorate his favorite handheld gaming console as soon as he gets home.
Satan : "My pulse is rushing. My head is reeling. My face is flushing. What is this feeling?"
Was the only one who bothered to research the source material with MC beforehand to have context. Huge fan of The Wizard Of Oz, is very interested in how they managed to go about a backstory for the Wicked Witch where she isn't entirely heinous. Refuses any details of the musical past knowing it is about the Wicked Witch and finding out what he needs to know before going to fully appreciate the show itself without being confused. A guy who likes to be in the know and who would hate to not understand anything. Didn't understand why MC told him to hold off on the book until after the show, did understand why when reading about the ballroom later so there's that.
Getting ready with Satan consists of him asking MC how he should be dressed for human theater and complying accordingly. Would willingly let MC rifle through his clothes to put an outfit together for him, only offering mild critiques based on the weather forecast for the day of the show. Gets dressed and waits outside MC's door like the world's most patient puppy for them to finish getting ready. If MC wants some photos of them together then they're the one that has to mention it. Satan is far too focused on making sure they're leaving on time without forgetting anything to worry about something that simplistic. Holds MC's bag for them, if they have one. Compliment giving king, makes sure there is no aspect of MC that they don't know is wonderful before ever leaving the house. Told MC to bring a coat and if they don't he will be ready with his coat to offer and a heavy "I told you so."
Another playbill reader, but he reads this like it was assigned reading from RAD itself and not knowing every detail will equal a failing grade. Barely even takes note of the stage or MC until he is finished with his task, unless they happen to run their fingers through the hair on the back of his head. That right there earns side-eye and a slight blush, but also a small smile before his gaze goes right back to reading (albeit a little slower). Feels no need to make sure the humans around them know MC is his, he is certain MC won't have any problems brushing off anybody too brave and if they need him they will let him know. Besides, he likes to think his RBF (resting bitch face) is strong enough the average human would be wary of coming close. Obsessed with this particular set but the dragon specifically wins his heart. Probably his favorite set of all time.
Also another guy who judges the legit logistics of magic in the show but will not discuss it unless asked. Please ask, he's vibrating with a need to vent about weather magic and flying monkeys. So ready to talk for hours about every aspect of this musical anyway. Like absolutely discuss with him how Glinda wasn't a good witch, how nobody was inherently good and what makes the difference between good and evil. As The Avatar Of Wrath, there's nothing he relates to more than the feeling of loathing, so naturally his favorite Song is 'What Is This Feeling?" How on the nose it is does not escape him and he will laugh with MC about it. Favorite Character is Elphaba because he admires those who choose to be something more than what is expected of them.
Merch he got includes both the program book and the musical cover edition of the book for Wicked. If MC sneaked this snow globe into his items it would make his whole millennia. Sneakily buys this mug for MC as a gift, presents it to them the next day full of their preferred hot morning beverage.
Rewriting this after it got deleted sucked immensely, but I'd like to think the extra flavor in this particular post makes up for it. Well, I sure hope it does anyway. It took a little longer than I would like to finish up because I got my nails done lengthier than usual and had to get used to typing with them. Accidental self hindrance lol. Hopefully next time it won't be such a big ordeal. Side note, I am and always will be team "no infantalizing Beel". This is my controversial opinion and you're welcome for it. - UA
