"Unsubscribe" used to be a thing that, more or less, worked. Now, granted, sometimes it took several tries. However, recently I've seen multiple marketing emails (and no I did NOT sign up to receive your shit, I've never even bought anything from you!) that either did not have an unsubscribe button at the bottom at all, or had one with a 'broken' link. And, if it's so tiny and incredibly well hidden that it takes five minutes of Where's Waldo to find it? Well, that means it functionally doesn't have one.
I helped my son out before the photography show he was in by ordering a him frame. I used a new site, because the site I usually use for (oil painting) frames didn't have a good selection for photography. Then I started getting multiple marketing emails from them per day, and the link to unsubscribe was non-functional (led to an error notice). It took a while to get untangled from them, and gave me a very solid desire to Never order from them again. I would have been a repeat customer! In time! And now I hate them and the quadruped they rode in on!
No advice needed. Just. Grrrr.
We’re now getting I direct comparison between twitter and bluesky.
With a 5th of the total follower count you’re above to get a higher engagement.
This is because a significant percentage of your followers on Twitter either no longer exist or they’re bots giving you the illusion of a higher fan base.
Couple that with twitter’s algorithm showing people promoted accounts over the accounts they follow means the real people that would engage with your content just aren’t seeing your posts.
I’m loosing track of who I have followed on bluesky now so once I’ve confirmed that I follow them I’m going to unfollow them from twitter. This will mean I’m more likely to see the accounts I wouldn’t normally see.

A sweeping boycott has begun — targeting tech giants who participants believe are enabling President Trump and his immigration crackdown.
“Asking people to opt out of Big Tech, that could be really hard to do because Big Tech is baked into so many of our day-to-day activities,” she said.
Atkinson added that the most successful strikes occur when consumers have viable alternatives to turn to. That can be especially difficult for platforms like Amazon, which dominates the e-commerce market.
At the same time, stepping away from these online services for a short period could weaken consumers’ dependency on them, which could lead to a sustained boycott. That would be promising, according to Atkinson.
She added that for most boycotts, the biggest detrimental impacts to companies come from a damaged reputation, rather than hits to their short-term profits.
"Boycotts work when they last," she said.
I think what is so frustrating about all this mass surveillance shit is that there are a lot of people who fall for the "it's to keep kids safe" or just don't care about the possible that may arise from this. Especially in an age where we a massive drop of files about wealthy child predators. Why would anyone be fine with just handing over information about their children to anyone they don't personally know? I hope people cancel their PlayStation Plus subs in mass because of the announcement. Not just in the US but around the world.
Make these companies loose money. That's what it has always been about too. Their money.
