How are the warden with kids?

Arryn is terrified until she realizes they can be manipulated with things like sweets and promises of destruction. It helps that she also likes these things. Is she just a large child? No - she is the Queen Child. All adults should fear the power she holds over the youth of the world.

Darian is also terrified - the only difference is he stays that way. They're very small, and far too breakable. He realizes that this is what Ariah feels like every time he does something dumb. He has a newfound respect for parents who manage not to drive themselves mad with worry.

Ariah isn't the biggest fan. She's not scared, she just doesn't live a life very condusive to child rearing. It has nothing to do with the fact that she has no idea how to handle them. She's not afraid. They just seem to like her, and she doesn't know what to do with that. They just keep appearing. Where are they all coming from? Do they travel in packs? Where are their parents? They're everywhere! How do they keep finding her? Can children smell fear?

Lenora loves kids. LOVES THEM. Catch her playing with village kids in the streets - making lunches and telling stories and offering to babysit. She definitely does not tell them how funny it would be if they all swarmed Ariah - that would be mean, and you should never be mean, ever. They're just so full of wonder and adventure and imagination (and so eager to help her confuse her friend)! She's the one they come to when they're scared, or upset. She's the one pulling Alistair aside in the street whenever they pass a child saying "I need one right now or I may actually die" but to be fair, this also applies to anything capable of giving her 'puppy dog eyes' - this obviously extends to every dog she's ever seen.
