Last call for sign-ups for the Bering and Wells Big Bang!
The sign-ups are open until tomorrow, December 26th! (Don't worry about timezones; I won't close the form until at least midnight PST.)
I'll put the link to the sign-up form in a reblog; Tumblr still doesn't play nice with external links, unfortunately. Under the readmore, I'm putting some more info about the matching, the timeline, and communication between the participants. So how will the matching go?
Once the sign-ups are closed, I (purlturtle) will replace all writers' names/handles etc. with synonyms, and make their summaries and what they'd like from a beta reader available to those who have signed up as betas and helper betas. Then they can make their ranked top 3 lists and forward them back to us - or rather, to galactic-pirates. I'm in the Big Bang as a writer myself, and this way the beta pick will remain anonymous. galactic-pirates will then match up writers and betas and inform them of the matchups, and then the writing can begin in earnest!
How will the participants find out about all this?
This part of the process, as most other communication, will take place in a dedicated Bering and Wells Big Bang discord server, an invitation to which we'll send around soon to everyone who has signed up.
What was the timeline for this again?
Sign-ups are open until Dec 26th, the betas will be able to see the summaries and make their top 3 lists from the 27th to the 30th, and the matching will take place on the 31st. January will be for writing, and in the first week of February, writers will make their summaries available to the artists for their pick. More on that closer to that time, though!

Y'all, ya boy has managed to more than double his word count and crack over 2000 words! I also managed to write and finish the first branch that will lead to a game over/death. It has to happen. Tbh, in the background I'm slowly letting achievement ideas percolate and more importantly, if they make sense.
Seriously though, the amount of catharsis I'm getting from writing this early section of my story is immense. This is me putting my queer experience down in order for me to be able to release it to the world.
I'm currently sitting at 10pages but realistically, that's only going to be about 5-7mins of game play/dialogue lol. It's a start though! Eventually though, I'm going to need to either split my rough draft document for different main branch paths or find better software to help me track the story lines. I'm coding the hell out of things with colors and symbols in the meantime to help keep my thoughts organized. Currently, I'm writing two different responses every time I switch characters because there's two paths now running parallel with each other.

There are so many blogs (SO. MANY) that anons can go to and have a whine (which is completely valid I’m not judging). But why do they come here and do it when you’ve reiterated multiple times how you want this to be a positive space 😭😭

Thanks sweetheart 😭💕 I totally get needing to have a whine every now and then, I absolutely do too! But when I do, I go to friends who I can vent to in private, who I know will understand because they tend to feel the same way, and who I know can help me get it off my chest and move on. I unfortunately can't be that person for everyone (and like you said, there are spaces that cater to those needs as well!) so I choose to keep the public replies and general vibe on this blog mostly positive, with a few exceptions. It's so nice that most people understand and respect that, but sometimes I do wish everyone could. But it is what it is - not everyone can see eye to eye about everything and that's fine, and I am very grateful for all the interaction and kindness people generally show me and others in this fandom! ❤️❤️
