I have had ringing in my ears as long as I can remember. Back in elementary school I assumed it was sound pollution and would bear through hours of this intense sound before finally falling asleep. I was diagnosed with tinnitus in 2018 at age 14. It was discovered after a comedian mentioned a ringing in the ears and I had to ask my family if that wasn’t normal.
I hear in the top 1 percentile of all people. Every moment I can hear my ears hearing themselves. My coping was I would listen to anything. Tv, music, podcast. Anything to be louder than the noise in my head.
Recently I have developed a new one only in my right ear. A sound like air whooshing by that gets louder than everything else around me. It’s lead me to tears it’s and scared the shit out of me thinking I was losing the hearing or there is an under lying issue. I plan on going to have it checked out very soon but as it seems it’s simply a new symptom of my incurable hearing condition. On the bright side I read on here a fun trick to make it stop. It makes me look crazy but covering my ears, closing my eyes and tapping rhythmically on the back of my head has made it stop.
